Well by a majority of 3 rigs we are headed to Okmulgee State Park, Red Oak unit on 11-4, 5 and 6, 2005. According to Tom, no reservations, but no problem this time of the year. So let us know if you can make it.
Since this is the nice camping time of the year, ya'll game for a garbage can dinner Saturday night. Be a wonderful time to sit around the fire and visit while dinner prepares itself.

For all that have never had the opporitunity to feast on a garbage-can-dinner , ya'll have really missed out on some fine eating.
Sort of depends on how man rigs we have come in...
but we will need the following:
cabbage
carrots
uncooked ham chunks (can used cooked)
Onions
fresh green beans
potatoes
sausage (precooked)
corn on the cob
I have a turkey fryer pot and a burner or we can cook over a fire pit.
Come on folks, if we have enough folks, we'll need more than one pot.

OK All,
I dropped by these parks while on my way to Dallas and looked everything over.
Regardless of what the woman said on the phone the way I see it is:
You have to come in from Okmulgee right in the center of town unless you come in from hwy 56 from the West. Once you get into Okmulgee state park you only have one option for camping, that is red oak. Keep in mind that the road in is narrow and has drop off's along the side so you have to watch that. You have to go through Okmulgee state park to get to dripping springs. The road is the same throughout. Red Oak has several spots that are large enough for large rigs but the turn at the end of the park that you have to go through is very tight, real tight for us big rigs, about a 120 degree turn with not much room for swing.
Three miles down the road you come to dripping springs state park. Clovis point is the only spot for camping with large rigs. There is a group area here that would be perfect but in the park area there is only a few spots that would work for large rigs and this area is pretty busy with a lot of campers.
Sooo, about all I can say is that Red Oak is a possibility in the Okmulgee state park and drippings springs is a possibility for the group camping area if it is not reserved. The road in is a POS if not careful.
I'm for suggesting the group area at dripping springs if its not reserved. Other than that its potluck and red oak.

Tom, I guess we need to plan on Red Oak area so we can be sure we will fit in. I for one do not savor threading down a narrow crooked road. If the BGB and Lee come, they will have te same problem.
Who all do we have coming????

Well guys and gals, as much as We would like to come, I don't think We will make it. We are getting pretty tied up right now with fall work to do. Sorry.
Anyway, I hope those turns don't end up being a problem for anyone.

Well, it appears that we might have a group of 3 rigs and that is it. With diesel up to $3.29.9 here, I wonder if the trip is worth it. We could possibly get a few of us to meet for dinner someplace Saturday? That way we could drive the econo-boxes and run on that cheaper gasoline.

Ok Ken, If it is alright with the others lets go ahead and forget the rally this time. We will catch it in the spring.
We will be headed down to Rusk and we might just head out early for that and get some of that famous Texas BBQ
Betty and Heinz...

Well, it won't hurt my feelings, but we will miss seeing the bunch.
Maybe we can get Tom and Lee (and anyone else) to meet for lunch of dinner in Tulsa. Or I could just cook up some BBQ at the house....any thoughts?

I'd say the same. Wife's best friend is coming in for that weekend so I'd have to go by myself and with fuel costing $100 dollars to fill up, Might be a good thing. Something's got to give with these diesel prices, when gas is 2.19 and diesel is 3.39 there is something wrong!
We'll miss seeing everyone but maybe next spring will bring a better climate, I hope!

Sure hate to cancel out the last trip of the year, but feel it is the best thing to do.
Let's plan to get some of us together for a BBQ at my place some Saturday before the weather is too bad.
