I do have an exhaust brake. The problem is that it isn't very effective under 30mph and, for whatever reason, some idiot always wants to stop dead in the middle of that hill when I'm there. It isn't just the grade it is that silly, narrow bridge. BTW, I don't like the bridge getting into the COE park at Lake Whitney (from the North) any better.

My guess is that we would hit Austin about 1pm if we decide to go that way. I had hoped that would still be OK but I guess I knew that it might be a greater risk to traffic, even at that time of the day.

So, we'll probably use 281 (sigh). Thanks to all of you for your inputs, even if some of you did highjack my thread (sniff, sniff). I'm just sorry that I cannot come to breakfast, too.

That's the story of my life, Don. Missed the breakfast and I know that I'll sit at the lights leading up to the bridge on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend long enough to get a ticket extended parking.
