Making the final preperations for the move to Boerne. We will be getting into a house and out of the camper and will need somewhere to store the 5th wheel. Any recommendations on storage in the Boerne area? Thanks!

Rick,
We store right down the road from you at:

AAA Stowaway
25300 IH10 W 78257
210-698-2001

They are located about a mile before Fair Oaks Road on the east acess road of IH 10 just south of Boerne.
There is a East & West (across IH 10 from each other, I believe separate owners now) the above is the east one, don't have the number for the west location. Both have inside and outside storage. Also where you are staying has storage available, but make your you place boards under your jacks (ask Madame Boomer)

Best,

Rick -
Alamo Fiesta has a storage facility at the back of the rv park and they are very reasonable on their storage rates. If you store it there, be SURE to get a concrete site! We stored ours there for about a month before the 2004 National Rally, but we were put in the grassy area and during that time it rained and the rig literally sunk 6-8 inches down into the ground!

If you should decide to sell the rig, they will also allow you to put it up by the front (by the big rally buildings) with a for sale sign on it.

sandy

They will also park your rv up front by the road if you want to put it up for sale.

Alamo Fiesta is where Lisa and the kids have been staying. I did look at their RV storage lot when I was there last time. The only thing I didn't like was it is not fenced in or secure. I did find a couple fenced and gated storage places in the immediate area that are priced the same as Alamo Fiesta. Seems like a lot of places offer covered storage for RV's. Is that really necessary there in Texas, or will I be okay with an outside storage lot? As for selling, not a definate yet, just feeling things out. I hate to give up our recreation and mode of travel for vacations. I only had my truck since Oct of last year, and only got to drive it for 2 months before Lisa took it to Texas, so i really miss my truck and not completely sure on letting it go. All depends on gas prices and commute distance.

It depends what shape it's in now and how long you plan on keeping it. If you leave it out, it's going to show UV deterioration pretty quickly down here in Texas, as well as be exposed to potential weather damage. We've used covered storage ever since moving back to Texas, but it's ultimately a cost versus benefit decision you'll have to make. If you choose outside storage, I'd at least think about an RV cover.
