RustyJC and I have new neighbors who moved here from Long Island, New York. They're already beginning to sound like us Texans (sort of). They need some help with 'zackly' how to pronounce some words! I 'figger' we can help them out by producin' a Texas Word Book!

NOT TO MENTION that some of us are headin' to Tennessee in July - so I'll have to send the Word Book to the National ahead of us so everyone else comin' in will be able to understand us!

COME ON TEXAS BOOMERS - LET'S WRITE A BOOK!

1. "Zackly" - pert near right on!
2. "Pert near" - as close as possible!
3. "Figger" - calculatin'

When y'all arrive here in these here mountains, you might be in need of some of our lingo to be able to communicate with the locals. Here's a few that come to mind.

You'uns = Y'all

Peart = Felling pretty good

Hits = It is

Evenin' = Anytime after noon

Ramps = A wild onion

Stay with us = Goodbye
[/list]

Sandy, don't for get the difference between ya'll and all-ya'll.

Also, the difference between dinner and supper.

Afixin'---I'm afixin' to fix some dinner.

Put a knot on you noggin. This is self explanatory.

Purty-fur. Some distance the in not pruty-near.

Right-cheer. neither purty-far or purty-near,

A fur-piece, a bit closer than purty-fur.

Happier than a pig in new mud...feeling pretty good.

Finer than frogs hair..either feeling real good or something is really soft and fine.

Hot enough to make a Horned-toad sweat. Normal west Texas day in July or August.

Somebody left the gap down in Abilene (Texas). hard cold wind blowing frm the north.

Sandy,

My moma always tells her friends from up north that move to Texas they are not true Texans until they can learn to say, "Hi yall how's your mom n nem?"

Oh and don't forget to ask them if they want a coke (meaning any carbonated canned drink)
