I just wanted to say "thank you" to all those wonderful Texaninas.
We came with nothing and now we're using your resources and you still welcome us from Louisiana. We've received so much help and comfort.
Thank you all who helped us here at Galveston/Dickinson area.
You guys have a heart.
Thank you
Willy

I know that things are "BIG" in Texas but the size of their hearts in bigger than their great state!

Y'All!
Thank you all for yr offers and help.
The shock is deep and I guess it will take awhile it all settles in. Life sometimes has its twist. I bought the coach a few weeks ago as a weekend-escape and now its our 'lifeboat': we live fulltime in it.
Well, she is an old lady and certainly has her little 'twists'. I got some electrical problems fixed, but I still struggle with a big glitch:
The prior owner used car/starter batteries as 'house batteries'. Since I am on shore power, I wouldn't mind. BUT: The 8D starter battery is connected with the 'house system' through a 'battery switch', which obviously failed (my starter battery is drained). So I plan to install a SurePower Battery Separator.
QUESTION: Where do I get a Group 1 unit in the Houston area?
any pointers?
Thank you all
Cheerio
Willy

For just about any parts for motorhomes/travel trailer I would check with PPLMotorhomes.com or there is a RV Parts Dealer in Dickinson, TX by the name of Dues(sp?) who might could help.
If you need anything while in the area, we are in Alvin, TX not far from you, feel free to call upon us. We will help if possible.

thanks guys,
I decided to hold off on any not live-needed repairs for budget reason.
Driving around contacting all agencies, foodstamps and basic needs is just eating up my small budget.
So I'll better stay put. Again, thank you all
Cheerio

Harry,
what an offer! Thank you so much. Fortunately I am at a place where I can stay.
I also got word from friends in California that they have housing AND work for me (YEAH)
All I have to do is to find a way westbound (yes, I know it the I-10, but my old lady runs on DIESEL). =;-> Looking at the price tag lately makes me feel ... dizzy (?)
So, I probably will work for a week or so filling my budget.
Or (thats the moment I'll wake up hot and sweaty) the people from FEMA get their a$$ in gear and I'll get some assistance from them ... (Satellite pics show my house clearly 10 feet under, so why do we need an adjuster??!!).
So far, people in this area have been great. I have some food, I have a place to stay AND I AM ALIVE ...
Cheerio
Willy
