My computer has been down (again, but that's another story...) but when I checked on here, there was no activity since the 13th. I bet I know, everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving?

Hi JayC Hibernating
I'm still up trying to finger out this
DeLorme GPS thing that Charlie got me hooked on.

Well, I haven't been on this site in months...first I took a hike (on the Appalachian Trail), then I just got lazy and didn't check the site often. Today I decided it was time to check on the Boomers again. Glad to see you're still here. Looking forward to the Christmas rally!

OK, I'm guilty, Heniz. Send me a PM if you have specific questions about Delorme and I'll do what I can to help you. I warned you that it might take a little getting used. to. In another week or so, you'll be a pro with it. When I first got mine, I planned a couple of very local trips (like to the local grocery store and back), just to get used to it. I drove there and back to see what the program did and how it sounded when giving directions to me. That helped a lot.
Good Luck,
Charlie

RustyJC and I are over here in Fredericksburg for our annual Thanksgiving trip. The weather is georgeous (although there was frost on the pumpkin this morning), but we are having a great time in one of my favorite places.
I had planned to spend the day at the courthouse and library today researching some family history, BUT I twisted my knee yesterday and I'm nursing it today. Tomorrow, after all, is another day!
I thought we'd have to pack it up and go home last night when my knee was so swollen and hurt like the dickens to walk BUT Wal-Mart has come through once again! We hit Wally World at 7 am this morning (I got to ride in the electric cart!!!!)and picked up a leg brace, icy-hot packs and Aleeve....I'm good to stay in Fredericksburg!!!!!
Hope whereever ya'll are that you're having fun with family and friends! Eat lots of turkey on T-Day
Sandy

Sandy, sorry to hear you have a bum leg. It is a shame that you and Judy aren't going to be in the same campground for a little while. She tried to run over a 100+lb dog on her bicycle and ended up in the emergency room a couple of weeks back. She is doing much better now but still has a twinge or two and a swollen finger to boot.
Have a great time in Fredricksburg. We may end up there before Christmas, too. Who knows?

Charlie -
Tell Judy she's my hero! It's hard to hit a 100lb dog on a bicycle! I'm sure she doesn't think so, but it's true! You have to work at doing that! I just bent over to lift the Bandit into the RV and 40 extra pounds on that knee went side to side and me on my hinney!
Judy and I both will live to see another day despite it all and we'll commiserate the next time we get together! We'll have to figure out a good way NOT to allow these dogs to get us next time!

Well Sandy with your bum leg that just means Rusty is doing all the dishes and other things so you can rest, RIGHT?????
Hope you get well (And mobile) soon.
I know how tough it is when ya get "Stove up" for one reason or the other. As you know I am recovering from a little uhhhhh incident with my right arm. (I am right handed too) But it is come a L O N G way. The only thing I can't do with it now, is do anything I have to grab and twist. A far cry from not even being able to pick up a glass of water. (Or iced sweet tea)
Take care of yourself and don't work Rusty........... TOO hard.

Judy requires that I "set the record straight" about her encounter with the dog. She was riding straight ahead and a pretty good clip when the dog approached her from behind and, without warning, passed her on the right and cut right in front of her. She made contact immediately and the dog lunged to her left, taking her front tire with him. She launched off the bike to on to her right knee, thigh, shoulder and finally head (she was wearing a helmut). From my position on my bike about 2 seconds behind her, I could only watch the sequence in what seemed to be slow motion, powerless to help her.
Her knee, hip and shoulder of healed but the index finger on her other hand is still swollen and bent on a funny angle. She is going back to the doctor today for a checkup and will query him about that. The ER swore that it wasn't broken but......
Our best wishes to both Sandy and Don for their continuing and speedy recoveries.

Sandy, you can offically join the Gimppy squad now. Susan said to pass along her sympathy...she had to have another shot in her knee.

Charlie-
What a tale! No doubt Judy was lucky to get off with only a few injuries...I would have been terrified that the dog would have bitten me! Do hope she'll find out more about what's going on with her finger - keep in touch. I guess she's now a part of the "Gimpy Squad" that TxIceMan stated in his post!
Ken -
Tell Susan I know now what her ailments have been over the years. It's not fun, but thankfully I am in NO PAIN now. I keep the icy-hot ointment on which helps with the swelling and today I walked downtown Fredericksburg without a problem one...other than wanting everything I saw!!! I'll have my knee xrayed when we get back home to make sure everything's in place and make sure the joint isn't injured..with rheumatoid arthritis you have to be careful!
Don (W5it)
glad to hear you're doing better! It's HECK to get old ain't it! I need to call you! You DO HAVE A SPACE FOR US AT NATIONAL DN'T YOU? I'll send a check when we get back home!

Hope all you gimpy ones heel up quickly and are ready for the Christmas Rally!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Livingston, TX, the weather was nice, the trees from Rita had been cleared and the turkey dinner was superb!
Hope to see everyone happy and well on Dec 9, 2005 for the annual Christmas Rally!
