The Stone Mountain rally was fun as all get togethers with this bunch is but we do remember very unlevel sites and a lot of hills to climb in the campground just to visit your neighbors-once there was enough for us. Charleston or Myrtle Beach would be nice, but we need to spread around the joy of hosting to someone else,we have hosted 3 and not up to hosting another right now.

Hi All,
Hey Depchief,
I am not planing to head North untill end of April, but depending on when and where the rally is I might be able to change my plans a little!! I had a great time at Stone Mnt, love that laser show !!! Also as a note I have heard some talk about maybe something at Myrtle Beach next fall, so just some food for thought on that location!!!

The end of April would be good, that's when we have traditionally held our Spring rallies.

Understand that there's going to be an exploratory committee visiting the Charleston area this week. I'm working 2 rallies in 2010 but I'm always willing to help where I can.
Charleston, SC is the "Jewel" of the South and in late April it's going to be beautiful.

How about Stone Mountain?
Hope no one minds a Florida Cooter jumping in here, but I'm willing to schedule a rally at Stone Mountain for Thursday, April 22 and departing on Sunday, April 25 (3 nights). It's been awhile since the Cooters and Appalachians have gotten together, so here's an opportunity.
I've been talking to the Stone Mountain folks the past couple of days. They assure me that since our last visit they have done extensive renovation and have plenty of big, level sites. I have reserved 14 sites on Trail F (sites 160 thru 168 and 163A thru 167A). We have reserved site 163A. Trail F has some of the largest sites and there is a large open area behind the A sites for activities.
All I'm waiting for is the rally price from their rally person and a cut-off date for reservations. I should have that later today and will start a new thread with the details.
Dave

A rally team is departing tomorrow to investigate the options in and around the Charleston, SC area. I'm not saying that Stone Mountain wouldn't be a lot of fun since I am a Civil War buff but diandtom reported that they've already had a rally in that location.
Stone Mtn may still be a better option than what we might find in Charleston so I wouldn't dismiss the proposal out of hand.
Seems like there's no lack of interest in putting together a spring rally.
I think that it's an excellent idea to join up with the Cooters and I'm " hoping" that the enthusiasm will be there in October as well!

Dave,
The FL Cooters are a part of the SE Region, a rally together at Stone Mountain would be a great opportunity to get us all together again. Thanks for stepping up to the plate with the arrangements.
Mike, should be fun in the Charleston area too, are y'all having two rallies?
Since a date is set for Stone Mtn Dave, you might want to put it up on the iRV2 calendar for sign-ups, meals, etc.

Yep,we may end up having two spring rallys, one in Stone Mountain and one in Charleston for those of us in the east who long for warmer weather, flater ground and not too far to drive! We'd probably have enough to show up for both!

Here's a link to the "new thread" that Dave started for the rally at Stone Mountain. A big to Dave and Jo Ann for putting this together, we're all ready for a rally, it's been a long, cold winter.

Richard, 4 of us went to Charleston today to explore the options in that area as we had stated before Dave posted his offer for Stone Mountain. I expect that there will be more information posted about that shortly.

We have plans for a Pilot Club gathering at Dillard for the 16-18th of April, so we may not make it to the Stone Mountain rally. Will just have to wait and see.
We are ready to do a Charleston get-together if that can be worked out. James Island County Park is a pretty neat place in the winter - never been there when the bugs are crawling.
re: Stone Mtn
FYI, that is Dekalb County and a pretty rough neighborhood from the park to I-285. There was a female security guard murdered there at the gate a couple or three years ago (still unsolved) Use due care and whatever security items you keep with you.
Oh yeah - we have been out of touch for a few days. Computer failure. Need to recover a whole pile of documents from the old unit. Ideas?
