Has anyone stayed at Ft. Clinch State Park in Florida? I will be meeting my sister from Oklahoma there in July and I'm curious about what's there, I have already made my reservations. I know they have 30amp and water but the website doesn't say anything about sewer. Do they have sewer at the sites or a dump station. I am planning on taking my golf cart to ride around the campground, my sister will have a rental car so we can go in to town, go idea or not? I also saw they closed the gates at 5pm, I hope this doesn't mean we can't go in to town for dinner. Any information you can help me with will be very greatly appreciated!!!

We stayed at Ft. Clinch for 3 nights in January. I don't think any of the sites have sewer, but there is a dump station at the river campground area, and I would guess that there is another at the ocean campground area. The gate does close at 5:00, but if I remember correctly, you are given a code upon arrival that will allow you to come and go. The golf cart would be nice, but I would check with the park to make sure that they will allow you to use it there. (I am guessing that it won't be allowed.) The campground was very nice. We found the fort to be very interesting. The beach campground restroom/showers facility is as nice as you will find anywhere.

We hope that you have a great time.

I meant to say the river campground area bath house was as nice as you will find anywhere. We did not check out the bath house at the ocean camping area.

Golf carts are allowed in FSP's now, but check on rules before you go to that trouble. You will get the gate code when you arrive. The park has a dump station but is W&E at the sites. Check out my pics for some shots of the park

Carol and I were there back in the winter when it was so cold and the wind was blowing like a hurricane. We stayed there on the 'beach' area so that we could get a satellite signal. Frankly, I was not impressed with the entire place. Sites were very basic, no sewer and the 30 amp receptacle was so worn and burned that I was afraid it was going to burn something up. The road in the beach area CG was tar and gravel and it was full of holes.
Now the entire experience might have been better had the wind ceased for a few days, but I suspect we will not be back there. We left a day early and I told the guy that ran the front check-in to give the next person who came in our site for free for that one night.
