Wife & I have leased a seasonal site south of Tampa, Fl. & that's where we'll be heading this winter since we are already committed.

Now, I must admit that I kinda like the warm weather altho the better half tends to melt when the temps rise above 75 or so. We were thinking about wintering in S.C. preferably on or close to the beach. Yes, I know it gets quite cold but we don't object to using the heat as long as it warms up during the day. Myrtle Beach appears to be just what we are looking for altho we've only passed thru the area once & I can't say for sure.

Would be looking for a senior oriented, full amenity park that we could commute back to our home in NJ a few times during the winter months while leaving the RV. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance, Jodann

C'mon folks ! After 43 views no one has a suggestion or an opinion? iRV2 has never let me down in the past. Is the idea of wintering in S.C. not feasable? If not, then we're willing to move in a southerly direction - Georgia or northern Fl. as long as it would be for the winter months & on or very close to the Atlantic.
Remember, daytime temps of 70-80 would be perfect for us. We've stayed in St. Augustine Fl. at Bryn Mohr - loved it but at $65/nite is unaffordable. Also stayed at KOA/St. Aug. - perhaps the least desirable KOA we've camped at. Have also stayed on Fl. Panhandle. Very nice, gets cold but would like to be closer for that occasional trip back home.

Still hoping for some input. Thx again, Jodann

Jodann,
I don't think you can have it all when you want to stay warm and still be close enough to NJ for quick trips home. If the FL panhandle is nice but gets cold (and it is and does) then Myrtle Beach definitely won't be any warmer during the winter. Best advice I can provide is to try a winter season in MB and see how you like it. As to adult oriented parks in that area, I can't help much. There is one nice park in north MB we have stayed at but can't remember the name. The private parks in MB can vary. We don't particularly like Pirateland, but others do. When you head south this winter, leave a little early and visit a few parks around MB and draw your own conclusions. BTW, many of us are on the road this time of the year and that may be why you haven't gotten any responses.

Never stayed in winter ,but my #1 C G in this area is Willow Tree.It is located in Longs S.C. and is about 15 min. from North Myrtle Beach.I beleve they have season rates for long term,It is very clean and set up for us older guys. There are also 5 CGs that are on the beach ,but sites are close together. LUCK.

If you are interested in MB and want to commute to NJ I would try to stay in southern part of the Beach. Close to the airport, if you fly home, Spirit goes to AC, or NY
Check out the rates at Ocean Lakes, Lakewood, Pirate Land, MB KOA

Last winter was the coldest since '89. you will normally use a sweat shirt in the AM and after noon take it off. NORMALLY!!!

My dad is retired, and owns a private lot at Briarcliffe, in North Myrtle Beach. That is his home, he has a nice Charriot Eagle park model. The park is about half private owned lots, and half temporary campers. We love it there, and I'm sure the winters are much milder than Jersy. It is on the intercoastal, a very short drive to the beach. We will be spending at least a week there this year I'm sure.

Thanks for your responses !! As we have an abundance of time we'll most certainly look into the various suggestions made. I must admit that Briarcliffe sounds interesting. Checked their website and have emailed them for further info but have not rec'd. a response as of yet.

Will be leaving tom'w. am to spend the month of July in NY's Catskill mountain region. Looking forwards to the trip altho I have absolutely no confidence in my travel trailer. Has been one problem after another since purchased new this past Nov. Wish us luck !! Jodann

I've satyed at the MB state park. It's been a while but we enjoyed it. They are just a sand dune from the beach and as all state parks are reasonablly priced. Don't know about the winter season if they are open and can't remember if they have full hook-ups. We also stayed at Edisto Beach, south of MB and were there over X-Mas a few years back. Full hook-ups and nice quiet place. Once again just a sand dune from the ocean. K-man
