I think we need to have another "Appalachian Campers" rally before the summer is over, I can't wait until the Fall before we have another one. The weekend after Labor Day looks good, Thursday 9/7 - Sunday 9/10, and is far enough before the Mumfest Fall Rally that they shouldn't interfere with each other.

I checked out a little campground called "Woodsmoke Campground" located in Unicoi, TN that would be a great place to hold one. They have full hookups (most with 50 amps), clean bath house, and fire rings along with easy access from I-26. I spoke with the owner and got a rate quote of $23.50. (If you have Good Sam take off 10%.)

I'll volunteer to be the wagon master and will provide burgers and dogs for everyone Thursday evening. Bring firewood if you can haul it safely.

Post here if you're interested, and then call and make your own campground reservations. keep in mind that they are a small campground (29 sites) so we should get our reservations made as quickly as possible to insure we are all put together.

Here's the list of who is coming, can I add yours to it?
  1. <LI> "Hitchhiker" -- Richard & Sylvia -- Buladean, NC
    <LI>"diandtom" -- Tom & Dianne -- New Bern, NC
<LI> "Colette and Joe" "Smokey Joe" -- Joe & Colette -- Cashiers, NC
<LI>"Doc" -- Doc and Carol -- Ila, Georgia
<LI>"jimandsandy" -- Jim and Sandy -- Westfield, NC
<LI>"SPUDWRENCH" -- Tom and Dianne -- Chattanooga, TN

= Reservation made with campground.

Here' s the 'scoop' with the campground:

Where:
Woodsmoke Campground
215 Woodsmoke Drive
Unicoi, TN 37692
423-743-2116

At exit #23 of I-26 (Formerly US 19-23)

Rates:
$23.50 per night for full hookup.
First night non-refundable deposit to hold site.
Good Sam discount if you're a member.

Reservations:
Call 'Bega' (owner) and tell her you're with the Appalachian Campers. She'll keep us all together.
She's easier to reach after 5:00 PM.
If you need 50 amps, tell her. Some sites are 30 amps.
Your deposit can be on a charge card or mail a check.

After you call and make reservations, let me know and I'll put a by your name on the sign up list.

We agree with you Richard, it is too long to October without a rally. Dianne and I would love to come.

Hey there Richard. That sounds like a good date and like the location. I spent the morning looking it up and checking out the area. That would be a good area to have little piece of land.
Count us in.

We are down with it as well. Ought to be getting nice in the mountains by then.

However: Not sure when, but we are committed to a stay at Hunting Island sometime along there. Dee and Steve want to see the place as well as a couple of other folks we camp with.

Hot diggety dawg! Glad y'all can come!

There should be no problem whatsoever with coming a day early and staying an extra day. Just tell them when you make your reservations what you want.

Got your names on the list!
