The location of the fall rally will be just outside of New Bern,NC during the weekend of the Mumfest. Here is the link. http://mumfest.com/ After some discussion with other members we have decided to have it in our backyard,we have enough room for at least 10 to 12 units. There is a lot to see and do at the Mumfest and Oct.is usually a great time of the year weather wise!

Friday night-We will host a welcome cookout, with hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, all the extras and dessert.

Saturday-Includes a planned trip to the MumFest for those that would like to go.We are trying to get nearby parking for those(like Dianne)that may have bad knees. Saturday night we will have a bring what you like potluck, campfire and a gift exchange game(a new game!)

Sunday-Your choice-a free day for those that would like to explore New Bern on their own, revisit the MumFest.OR if there is enough interest we could make a trip to Atlantic Beach and tour Fort Macon, the scene of a significant Civil War battle. About a 90 mile round trip.Sunday night we will meet and eat together again-pot luck dish of your choice.

We will also take a day or night ferry ride(free)which is a nice side trip.

For those that may want to come in on Thursday and sample some local seafood,we could all go out to eat-the restaurant also has ribs, burgers and chicken for those who are not seafood lovers.

Since camping is free there is no set check in or out time.If you would like to stay over another night it will be no problem, just let us know.We are not much into playing games but if someone wants to bring a "Timberlake Toss game"(also known as ladder golf) to play, bring it on,we should have plenty of room for it.We have a covered shelter with 3 picnic tables in case of rain and will have nightly campfires. It would be helpful for those that have them to bring a small portable table. Before you get busy with your summer plans lets start a sign up. So far we have....

1.Sportsman - Alvin and Barb
2.jimandsandy- Jim and Sandy
3.Don and Kay - Don and Kay
4.Joe and Tina-Guest
5.WA4SLC- Bill & Camilla
6.Collette & Joe

Tom

Note: New Berns history for those not familiar with the area-its the second oldest town in NC,founded in 1710 and named after its Mother city Bern,Switzerland. Its best know for its historic district, which includes the Royal Governors Tyron's mansion,Tryon Palace. Its also noted for being the birthplace of Pepsi. Its located on the Neuse and Trent rivers and a very pretty little town, about 45 miles from Morehead City and the Atlantic Ocean.Y'all come see us!

7/25/06: Edited to add "Appalachian Campers" to title.

I do have water and electric on the lot for two. There is a trailer park close by that will let you dump for $5.00.

We'll be there, just remind me. Have had a bad case of CRS as of late. Matter of fact we were looking this past fall at a trip in that direction. Ms C likes the NC coast. Don't really care for KOA but will but what the heck, it is on our list of possible places to stay in that area. Let's do it!!

Tom,
That is a good Idea of Dry Camping, that is a big lot we all could make a big circle there.
If anyone needed power we could give them power from our generators.
We will be there & will help in any way

We would love to attend. Dry camping no problem. Will you be contacting us by e-mail directly or will directions be on the forum? This will be our first rally of this type. I've been on and off the webpage for many years but did not have time previously to attend irv2 rallys.

BTW just finished paying for the July 06, Smokey Mountain rally.

Anyone thinking of coming to the Mumfest rally, which is usually the second weekend in Oct., let me know if you perfer a campground or our back lot.If enough prefer a campground I would have to soon start making plans for that. If you will bring some extension cords I can provide some power. It will not be enought to run airconditioner but don't think you will need it or heat here in October.

We are fine with dry camping for a weekend but are flexible and will go along with whatever the group consensus is. We have a small generator but can get by without it. As long as I have propane. I am the "cold" one.

Hi Tom
Camilla and I would be interested in going also. I have a 3500 W. Honda generator that I could carry. It is not as quiet as I had hoped for, but it has served our needs well. It is hard to say what will be going on in our lives that far in advance, but we will try our best to keep that weekend free.
Let me know if I can help you with this event in anyway.

Bill

Hi Tom,
We hope yall will come to the Fall Rally, it is a lot to see down there it is not fare to the NC coast. There is a ferry not far from Tom & Dianne that you can ride and with no Charge. If you stay a week with no charge that will help on the fuel cost, that might be what we will do. LOL

Yes,we have already thought about the ferry ride across the river,it will be nice that time of year, especially if we have a big fat harvest moon reflecting on the water!
