There have been several questions about the rally lately. I talked with Linda Brackett this morning and learned that they have had their coach in the shop for the last nine days, so they have been out of touch. Here is an update that answers most of the questions and reviews the rally:

Dates Thursday, April 14 to Sunday, April 17

Location: LeLynn RV Resort, Polk City, Florida at I4 Exit 44, north of I4.

Cost: $23 per night

Reservation method: Post if you can attend. Pay when you arrive. Linda Brackett is managing the reservations with the LeLynn Resort. No need to contact the campground directly.

LeLynn RV Resort phone: 800-736-0409

Attendees:
1. Richard & Linda (Mr. Brackett-Mrs. Brackett)[full-timing there]
2. Dave & Sharon (handyman & grams)
3. Larry & Mary (Larry,NW4W; SchnoodleMom) [Wed-Sun]
4. Ron & Cheri (cookestwo) [Fri-Sun]
5. Lou & Robin (RMM; MRSFLORIDABOOMER) [Fri - Sun]
6. Derek & Audi (Mindcandies)
7. Ralphie & Janice (safcrkr)
8. Verne & Linda (Verne and Linda)
9. Tom & Dee (Tom & Dee) [Fri - Sun]
10. Joe & Linda (The Coach)
11. Rick & Cheryl (Kissimee Kids)
12. Bill & Jan (Xeroid; Newgma)
13. Steve & Carol (steveval)
14. Jim & Carolyn (islander; Vectrola) maybe
15. Tom & Pat (tmitchell) [Wed - Sun]
Please correct the list as needed.

If you want to come in on Wednesday or stay beyond Sunday morning, please advise on this thread. Linda Brackett will inform the office.

Activities;
1. The traditional Saturday night potluck will begin at 5:30. A 5th anniversary/birthday cake will be provided for all. Bring your food contribution, drinks and place setting for your family. Live musical entertainment will be provided and our 5th anniversary will be commemorated.

2. We suggest pizza at a good place in Auburndale for those who want to go out to eat on Friday night. You can let us know your plans when you arrive at LeLynn.

3. Linda has a list of area golf courses and will help with arrangements if there is interest. Let us know...

4. The luncheon at Lavender and Lace tea room will be on Saturday. So far Robin, Carolyn, Janice and Mary have expressed interest. Just let us know if you want to come and Linda will make our reservation.

5. The famous Sun 'n Fun Fly In starts the previous Tuesday and ends on Monday. Those who are interested in actually going to the airport may want to consider staying through Sunday because Sunday is Florida Resident Day and the cost is $20 instead of $30. See www.sun-n-fun.org

6. Fantasy of Flight is a very good air museum that was just discussed on another thread in this section. (See "What's the name of the place with the airplane in the ground? thread) If fifteen or more people want to go, we can get a slight discount from the $24.95 admission price (over 60 the price is $22.95) and a tour for our group. So, let us know if you're interested, and if 15 or more respond, we'll give you more details.

Whew! I think that about takes care of it. Lots of fun options for those who want to get out and about and a nice campground with lake and club house for those who want to chill out. And our tax returns will be filed. Hooray!

Tom & Cindy,
Congratulations and hope you have enough energy left or recovered to enjoy tomorrow! We'll miss you in April and hope to see you at the end of the month for the May rally at Tropical Palms.

Mary, nice job on the update summary.

I am hoping, and am EXTENDING AN INVITATION, to any of the "original" FL Boomers to come join us for this event. No reservations required so you can do it at the last minute.

Lurkers, and those new to iRV2..this would a great opportunity to find out about the FL Boomers...and you get to eat cake Sat. night.

Tom & Pat,

It's good to hear that you will be attending the April rally at Polk City. They are just taking a count to give the park and then pay when you arrive at the office. I will tell Mary to add you to the list.
See everyone soon.

Even though I haven't received any interest in attending Fantasy of Flight as a group, I have gotten more information, so here it is:

The attraction is right next to the campground so we won't have trouble finding it.

The group rate is $21.21 per person. This includes admission to the attraction, the simulators, two tours (the Back Lot and the Restoration tours at 11:30 and 1:45).

We can carry in our own lunches or request box lunches for $6.25. They would also do a luncheon buffet for $11.25 each. (A carry in box of weeds and grass would be O.K. with me).
We need to let them know right away if we're interested. They ask for two weeks notice!

So, fire up the computer and give us an answer if you're interested. Thanks,

Time to start a Lavender and Lace Luncheon list. Richard reported today they had found a fun garden shop called the Red Barn that we might want to shop at on the way back to the campground.

1. Robin
2. Carolyn
3. Janice H.
4. Mary
5. Cheri
6. Linda Brackett
7. Sharon (?)
8. Jan M.
9. Dee
10. Linda Jayne

Looking forward to it...

Ladies,
Linda and I drove over to the Red Barn just to see what it was like....guess "AWESOME" best describes it. They have a lovely antique area, another that deals in new items which includes a nice assortment of candles (so much to see in that area)....then they have a garden area where you could purchase neat flags, pond accesaries, etc.
They also have a nice lunch served, very similar to Lavendar and Lace. We picked up menu's for both so you can all look. It was suggested the best time to come for lunch (Lavendar and Lace) would be about 11:30. You will probably be there at least an hour, possibly more as they also have a nice gift shop you might like to spend a few minutes checking out.
Bad thing is that the Red Barn closes at 3:00, which doesn't leave a lot of time to look around. You could check that out on Friday afternoon, but you will have to decide on that.

There will be some adjustments to the time for our "Pot Luck" which I'm still trying to work out....
Will will have our pancake breakfast on Friday morning....I'm making a special recipe that my sister-in-law made up....it's super. Would any of you have a grill you might volunteer for the cooking? I sure would appreciate it. We will have coffee and of course butter and syrup...if you would like anything (like bacon) I'll gladly take donations....thanks.
We're truly excited about seeing all of you as this will be our last rally until December as we will be getting back just before Thanksgiving. We hope you will all have a wonderful time.
See You Later,
Richard, Linda, Dave, Sharon, Larry and Mary
