We're just entering Florida for our first RV experience in your state. We plan to head down the east coast then come up the Gulf side over the next 2 months. We'll be in St. Augustine for New Year's Eve at Indian Forest. Any ideas or gatherings we might tag along with? We're California RV'ers, but are on the road since August 2004 and will be out until May 2005. We're Passport, SKP and Elks members.

As you probably are already aware there are a lot of RV parks in Florida on both sides and they get pretty full this time of year. As for the East coast it depends on how far down you are going. You might look at the KOA in West Palm Beach... Lion Country Safari is there. On the West coast look at Riverside RV in Port Charlotte then maybe Rock Crusher Canyon RV park in Crystal River.
Guess it just depends on what you want to see and the area.
For the keys Blue Water Key RV Resort can't be beat

If you are interested in seeing the Space Center, you might want to check out Manatee Hammock Campground - it is US1 in south of Titusville. Nice campground, lots of trees.

Also, check our calendar and see if you can come to a Florida Boomer event. There's a huge RV show in January in Tampa, and a get together at Rock Crusher in February that might work out for you. We'd love to meet you...

Hi and welcome to the Florida Boomers. The Super RV show in Tampa will be Jan 12-16. There are a few campgrounds close by, Southern Aire, Spanish Main and Lazydays Rally Park. These are all with minutes of the Florida State Fairgrounds where the RV show will be held. The Boomers will be getting together for dinner on Saturday night at the Cracker Barrel, which is located right next to Lazydays. Maybe see you there. Enjoy Florida.

There's a thread called February 2005 Rally that has the Rock Crusher information. Here's the information about that one, updated on Dec. 23rd.

Make your plans now to attend the February 2005 Florida Boomer RV Rally.

Where: Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park, Crystal River, FL. For those that haven't been there before, Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park is nearby as well a good assortment of restaurants and shopping.

When: February 10-12, 2005

Rates: $20 + tax per night with Good Sam membership. $35 + tax without Good Sam. There is a cancellation fee of $10 up to 48 hours before arrival time. No refund within 48 hours of arrival.

Making reservations: Attendees are responsible for making their own reservations. Rock Crusher's toll free number is 877.722.2696 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Be sure to tell them you're with the Florida Boomers so that we all get sites together. There is limited availability if you want to come early or stay longer. Ask Rock Crusher staff if you are interested.

Theme and activities: We have use of the clubhouse from 4 - 10 p.m. on Saturday for the pot-luck. Wear some red (it will be close to Valentine's Day) for the potluck. We have a fire pit in our rally area. Weather permitting, this will be a good time of the year for campfires. This will also be a good opportunity for anyone who buys a new rig at the January Super Show to show it off.

Wagonmasters: Dave & Jo Ann Nichols
