Heat too much, want to head north
Heat and humidity is getting pretty rough. Thinking of heading north, but where? Definitely not Pigeon Forge - the National there a few years back settled that for us. Thinking of Meadows of Dan, Virginia up on the Parkway. We have been there several times and it seems I recall it being relatively cool. Anyone have ideas on the weather in July? or have been there lately?

Have you considered the upper half of Michigan? Some lovely Lake Superior shore line camping there, along with a lot of other lovely spots..
(Yes, I may not have always liked my employer, but I do love the land (State retiree)

Man I would love to see the big bridge and that part of the country. However I have to be back in Georgia the first part of August and that would not leave me enough time to make a trip of that distance.

A pretty long drive for you but we escaped the 105 Arizona heat about a week ago and are currently in Sturgis, SD.... 55 and light rain. It somehow feels good to wear a sweat shirt... at least for a while.

Hi All,
Hey Doc,
It's hard to say it seems to get hot just about anywhere anymore! Was up in Maine last week and had temps in the 90's in the pool and had A/C on, but before I left was rain and in 50's with heat on, LOL!!! With that said there are some nice places in the NorthEast from NJ to Main! Hope you work out a place and have a great time! Give my best to Miss Carol!!

Doc,we had a rally there a few years ago in Aug. the nights were cool and the days weren't too bad, much better than Mayberry Campground which is several degrees warmer. Can't say much for this year though, weather is so crazy everywhere!!

If you want cooler weather go to the Rocky Mountains. We had a dusting of snow yesterday morning.

Well, right now we're struggling to make it to 70° most days.

I love the Google ads that popped up while I read this thread:
Heat pumps and radiant heating.
I don't think the computers will be taking over in the near future.

Georgia to Michigan....
Well, come fall I have to go to Darien (South Georgia) I figure about 3 days of hard driving or 5 if I dog it (I like to dog it) one more to Michigan's UP (I'll leave from Talyor MI, south of Detroit, about 2 miles from I-75)

It was 97 here today, but it is supposed to 'cool off some' according to the local Atlanta weather gurus. I would love to be back in Custer right now!! Rick, you gonna be there for The Rally? Most motorcycles I have ever seen in one bunch. The buffalo on the Game Loop had to be worn completely out from listening to the big twins bellow from early morning to late evening every day for a couple of weeks.
