Don,
Saw your post under another discussion about mileages in Texas and Florida. I did not want to continue any discussion under that other topic, so here's a new discussion.
Of course, I'm having a little fun with ya, but I mileaged out the farthest but most direct route in both states and found Texas to be 858 miles. Florida came to 852 miles. No question Texas has many more square miles and is King in that catagory. Oops, forgot about Alaska- I seem to remember one of our Alaska members saying it would take 4 Texas's to make one Alaska.
I also checked the distance north to south in California and found it to be about 765 miles.
By the way, someday I still want to try some of that jambalaya that you make. We all missed out on it last year, no thanks to the hurricanes.

Terry, just curious but I imagine you're measuring the farthest point in Texas to somewhere, then the farthest point in Florida to that same point?
If so....where's that starting point?
I'm guessing Sevierville?

Those are the farthest distances that you can drive across the respective states. Texas is 858 miles across by the most direct route and the longest distance that you could drive in Florida is from Key West to Pensacola, 852 miles.
By the way, according to mapquest it is 1318 miles from my place to Branson, or $577 one way for my MH. It's a good thing we did not get into this to save any money.

Total Est. Distance: 1178.81 miles
Terry, the above distance is "door to door" for me, from Virginia Beach to the campground in Branson so I feel your pain!!
I'm most likely going to make that trip TWICE too,as I want to make a "recon run" in the fall...
I'm really looking forward to my Datastorm Satellite Internet Rally trip in October...
Total Est. Distance: 1665.30 miles
It's a HUGE time though!!
See ya in Branson!!

Would LOVE to full time and home school, but there's NO WAY Lori would ever do that...
I do realize it's a HUGE endeavor, but what a classroom!!

Bob, back in the late 60's early 70's, hubby at that time and I had a sail boat and spent all availible time sailing. We would often go to the Bahamas. I would take the kids, grade school at the time, out of school, arrange for what ever work they had to do to keep up and we would do it on the trip. We felt that the experiences they would have would far out way missing class room time.
They are both in their 40's now and are over achievers and had more interesting experiences in their youth than most kids.
I don't know what schools do now a days regarding attendance? Mine never received a perfect attendance award
Rv travels are not much different that sailing, except we are always on solid earth

Back on the topic of traveling to Branson.
How do you get from HWY 40 to Branson. Looks like you go around the world?

Hi Colette & Joe
I do not know any thing about the roads out there but I am glad to get back in touch with you yall.
We are looking foward to seeing you this fall.
We are on a trip out west but we try to look at IRV2 when we can but we may go for a few days where we do not have service.
Take care

Well Terry I did not do the figures from the keys.... LOL (I have not made that run..... YET)
I just remember it takin Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to cross Texas. Going from Corpus Christi to North Texas last June was a HARD days drive too.
I was just pointing out that that bunch of Texans in the "South Central" area has LOTS of folks and get togethers. (Not to mention going to one of the gatherins they hold is a HOOT! )
Oh, the Hurricanes. (Not the football team either ) I hope we ALL miss them for a few years at least! We are all gonna see repair work from the last couple of years going on for a decade or so........
We pulled out of Ft. Pickens a few days before it got TRASHED. Boy howdy it was a shame to see such a pretty park/area torn up so bad. I am afraid it will never be the same again. We really liked spending time there.
