Here in Texas, Madame Boomer has a hard enough time finding an RV park that can provide 40-45 sites for a Texas Boomers weekend rally, especially in the winter. She has to book at least 6 months ahead, and she has some parks booked years ahead. I can't imagine Florida would be that much different.

Rusty, it is the same here in NC. If you are going to have a rally you have to get it way ahead or have a rally in the off season. I know some campgrounds that say no to groups. They claim they have held out a bunch of camp sites and have a few to show up.
As to what Tom in Jax said no I don't think of us as a elitist. We started out in the mid seventies with $400 cabover truck camper. That is one thing I like about IRV2 you are welcome no mater what you camp in.

Ok I'll rephrase. Would you camp in a campground that had 50 tent campers in it along with a handful of popup campers?

The campground we used had 450 sites, north of Ocala and like I said originally, we were the only group there besides about 20 square dancers. We've camped there for six consecutive years in January.

To answer your first question, assuming they have electric and water and a big enough site, sure, why not?
As to your second statement, the campground is private and was sold. The owner can do anything he wants with it. We, as customers, have the option to go elsewhere. But with a group your size during high season in FL, your options are definitely limited. I understand your rant in that regard.

We live in Lake Wales, FL and there is a great RV park called River Ranch on HWY 60 east that rents lots about $650 up a month or you can buy the lots for about $65,000 up.
They have everything you need there.

[I know of no FL campground that can rent to a group of 300 (150 site??) off-roaders, or any group that requires 150 sites, during snowbird season. Summer would be less of a problem. You may find a park that can accommodate 300 campers in northern FL in the winter.
This youth ranch( www.sertomayouthranch.com )is above Dade City, FL and has approx. 225 electric and water hookups, they also have tent camping too. They can be rented for large rallies. "I know we go there all the time." They are privately owned and empty when not holding special events. You might want to look into holding a rally there some time.

have you tried Salt Springs Nat'l Forest campground? We love it there. You need to book early because they are booked up during the winter, or come after the snowbirds leave (usually after Easter). We don't care what type of camping equip others have. We care about the type of folks they are! you go!!
