Just thinking at loud....If needs come to evacuate from Florida due to Hurricane, etc would it be best to leave in the RV or car. Being that there might be traffic out there, etc. What you guys thinks? We never needed to evacuate, but you never know.

With the RV you'd always have a place to stay and it wouldn't get torn up in the storm. I'd take it if it were me.

I agree with Richard, as well. With your RV, you'll always have a place to live. In our case, we'd probably have some motorcycles in the trailer as well... for transportation. But I suppose all that depends on how much notice you have. Actually, if I had a toad, and I knew evacuation was a possibility, I'd hook up the toad and have it ready to go with the RV. I hope you don't have to evacuate and that you stay safe!

They have wheels for a reason....I'd load up what I needed and boogie with RV in tow.
Like noted, you still will have a place to live on the road or if you stick house is damaged.

We live in coastal NC and have had more than our share of hurricanes. We have never had to evacuate but if we did we would be towing,so if anything happened to the stick house we'd at least have one resident.

If I lived in hurricane country, I would keep the motorhome well provisioned with water and necessities, and full of gas with toad hooked up. Like TXiceman says "it has wheels for a reason". And driving away from a hurricane, with your home on wheels and toad connected is certainly good enough reason for me.

In 2004 when Florida had several hurricanes, my husband and I evacuated for Frances. We evacuated with my husband towing a fifth wheel and I drove my then new car. When we got home, we came home to major destruction. We lived in our fifth wheel for four months while my husband and I worked on our home to get it liveable, again. We were very fortunate to have a place to live during that time. I will never drive separate again, but would definitely tow our fifth wheel or whatever we have at that time.

Greetings all!
If you need to evacuate due to the storm, I have a place 45 miles north east of Atlanta that has water, 30amp electric, sewer and wi-fi. It is simply my side yard, but it works well when my folks (HitchHiker ) come to visit. Some one is more than welcome to come and stay a few days if needed.
Feel free to contact me directly...
I posted this in the Florida Cooters section as well...

Eric, good idea, I think many of us have extra hook- up room. We do. 30 or 50 , hard drive up a mountian but no chance for flood But for an evacuation we would gladly help.
