Hi All,

I looked in the CG Review and did not see anything posted. So I figured I would ask here, does anyone know anything about this place Markham Park in Sunrise, FL Pro or Con?? I know it's a city park, and I hear they have no trees left after the hurricans, but figured it would not be a problem in Feb. or am I wrong?

I think you are going to find bgeting a park south of Orlando/Tampa after December is going to be very hard. The snowbirds will begin to arrive this week and start eating up most of the sites.

Hi All,

Thanks Kissimmee Kids, and I see what you mean, a bunch of places are all booked up already !! However I have been lucky and got in at others!! Oh well this is my first winter in Fl, so I now know the farther south I go, the sooner I start looking & booking!! Besides even if I end up going back up to North Fl. or South Ga it is still better then COLD SNOWY NJ !!!!!!

When you get to Florida be sure to check out the activities of the Florida Boomers/Cooter Clan. I'll assure a fun time.

Did you decide on Markam Park? Never heard of it would be interested in your opinion. Might be looking to stay between that area and Naples on west coast sometime in 2008.

Hi All,

Hey JMO, yes as of now I booked a site from Feb 17 - March 2, 2008 and like most city, county or state parks they have a 14 day max stay! Depending on when you are thinking on going there in 2008 you might want to start makeing reservations now !!! A few other places I called were all booked up !!!

Hi We live in that area -- There are very few trees in Markham park since the hurricaines but all in all it is not a bad park. It is right on the edge of the Everglades. Also there are a couple of other county parks in the area that are not bad. C B Smith Park and TY park are areas that have just been redone since the hurricanes. Since these are county parks the amenities are few but I would have no problem staying at any of them if you can get a reservation. In south Florida you would be hard pressed to find a park with a lot of trees.
Let us know if you get down this way -- also for the Tampa show several of us are staying at the Hillsborough River state park which is within 10 miles from the fairgrounds. Last I heard they did not have any sites but you know there are always cancellations. The Florida State Parks information is available online.

Hi Al As far as the FLA Turnpike it is a good road and probably the fastest way, however, it will probably cost you at least $10 or more. There is no problem with a MOHO and a toad. There is much less traffic than on 95. Safe Travels
