I'm looking for a site to park my 36' motor home in Fayetteville, NC for 6 months or more while I travel between NC and AZ to work. I originally became a RV'er to use it for long term stays at work locations in AZ but now find most of my work in NC or KS.

Ideally I would like to find a private site area in the south end of someone's property for a small monthly fee.
I would also consider a regular RV park with the option to store my RV onsite during my absence.

I don't look forward to the four day 2200 mile drive but I think it would pay off in the end and I would have my own place to return to each night.

I have scoured the Internet but haven't found much. I will be there next week and hopefully can visit the few RV parks I did find.

If anyone else has any suggestions I'm all ears.
Thanks.

I was approved to stay at the Ft. Bragg Travel Camp, Smith Lake. It's quiet, secluded, the amenities are nice, and the price is right.

I will park my MH and car as a package in the RDU long-term lot for $6/day when not in town.

The 2200 mile drive from AZ to NC in 4 days across I40 was ok but I wouldn't want to do that more than twice a year!

I wondered how this was going to play out. Glad you found someplace to stay. I cannot place that campground, is it on base? $6.00 a day for your MH and car is a good price at RDU, that’s what we normally pay for a just a daily car!

I have made that trip to AZ and back several times. It is a hard round trip especially when you have to push for time.

Smith Lake recreation area is just a mile off Post exiting through the Honeycutt gate. You can enter from Murchison but if you are towing you should use the dirt road entrance from Honeycutt near the Smith Lake riding stables. It is managed by the MWR group. I posted a review at RV Park Reviews :: Fayetteville, North Carolina ( NC ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews.

I called the RDU Parking Office and explained my setup with car in tow and that I would need more than one regular space, maybe the equivalent of three. The nice lady said for now the exit fee was $6/day. She gave me directions to Lot 4 from I540 exit 3, and suggested I use Lane 6. She also said that if I parked more than 30 days to call the office so my vehicle wasn't marked as abandon.
I will find out more this coming Friday afternoon when I go home for a week (I also dread the 4 hour flight!).

Hey at least we still have one airline that offers a straight through flight to Phoenix. I had a fit when American west was bought out and they abandoned that flight! I was so glad to see it come back as US Airways. Although Southwest airlines has a straight direct flight too but I hate the non assigned seating.

Thanks for the review on the campground; I am going to go take a look.
