I know that most of those that can, have gone down to Florida for the winter. I wondered about those, like me that work or have other obligation that keep them home, go for their first trip out after the winter.

We have to turn our unit in for some warranty work and hopefully that won’t take too long because I want to go somewhere in March. It’s usually pretty nice at the beach areas. You know, leave the windows open and no air conditioning weather. We just did a 6000 mile shake down so plan to stay local for a while; I still think the gas prices are too high!

So while I am sitting here looking at Raleigh’s first snow…..I started to thinking about our next camping trip.

What are your plans?

As a neighbor to your east, we can only sit and watch the snow fall instead of seeking the warmth of southern locations. Until we both have our summer vactions, we must pick our weekends carefully by watching the weather reports.

Our first trip is planned for April but we may seek the refuge of the Bounder earlier if time and weather permit.

Living in coastal NC our winters aren't that bad.January is our worse month so for the past several years we spend that month "rambling" around Florida, staying at different campgrounds. We can't afford 3 months nor do I really want to stay away from home, the girls or grand kids that long.A very rare snow has hit our area at home and it is colder here in Florida than its been in several years, but still nice to be here! Gas prices are going up but thankfully diesel is going down,we found some today at a Super Wal-Mart for $2.12 a gallon!

I have been on three winter excursions this year - Thanksgiving, day after Christmas, and over New Year's. I would like to go again but it has been too dang cold. I winterized after the Thanksgiving trip and again after the New Year's trip, but I am willing to do it again if we get a weekend in the 50's.

I work five days a week but got two weeks at "Winter Break" this year. That was nice - got two of my trips in then.
