Just returned from a few very nice days in the keys, but was sad to find there is no longer any TV there. I seem to remember there were some Miami stations on repeaters and some UHF stations. A local told me it is not the hurricanes taking down towers. Is this the case in other remote places? Is cable or dish the only choise?

I'm curious if this "no TV" is rom some official statement or something you observed from your particualr location. By the way, where where you in the Keys?

We have several friends who live in Marathon and now that I think of it, they all have cable now. Antenna reception was always kind of iffy down there, so they flocked to CATV when it became available some years ago. It may well be that the broadcast tv companies have opted to cut expenses by dropping any repeaters they may have had in the past.

We were staying at Bahia Honda, a little hot for this time of year and therefore buggy, but no TV. I can't remember not getting something on rabbit ears or trailer antenna anywhere in Keys.

I am not sure when they lost the TV anetnna connections. I remember well watching the Democratic National Convention that was held in Chicago, during the peace protests regarding Viet Nam from a TV with an Antenna on the house in Islamorada. That was well before Cable.

I have to admit that on our last visit we plugged into the Cable at Blue Water just north of Key West. Never gave an antenna a second thought.

Then again, I am thinking, other than weather warnings, do you really NEED TV in the Keys??
