Got a buddy moving to Charlotte, just wondering how long into the winter he could camp out in a 5th wheel without major skirting heat tapes etc. Thanks

Probably beginning of December would be a good time to start skirting. Past couple of winters it has gotten real cold for us southerners.

We spent a full winter in the Greensboro, NC area a few years ago and never had a need to add skirting. At the time, we had a 2003 Pace Arrow and all i did was add heat tape to the supply line, made sure the sewer line "flowed" and added a external 100 pound propane tank. We never had any problem with water freezing or staying warm.

We have spent a couple winters in the Raleigh area. December can be fairly mild but might have some cold nights. January and February can get really cold. We put heat tape on the water line and had no problems with pipes freezing. We never skirted the MH, but sure wish we had.
