Hey All, My DW and I thinking of taking our first trip to the Outer Banks. Anybody have any suggestions on Camp grounds that will take a 40'er.
50 amps and full hooks up would nice too.
Thanks

We stayed at the Sands of Times campgrounds and enjoyed it. It's a small, quiet campground located in Avon, NC of the OBX. Cost was $20 per night with full hookups if you have a Passport America membership.

Hi Roy... we were in OBX this spring and had a really good time. However, we didn't stay there. We were concerned that the parks would be pretty cramped and with limited hook ups. We have a 40DP. We stayed in Shawboro, NC at North River Campground and really enjoyed the park. Very quiet and all of the sites are waterfront pull ins. It's 27 miles to Kitty Hawk.
Having said that, next time we might be adventurous and stay farther down OBX and maybe even take the coach out there on the ferry.
Have fun...
Rick

We just finished up attending a rally at the Camp Hatteras Camp & Resort in Rodanthe, NC.
This is probably the highest rated campground on the island and it has all the amenities. If you're on Verizon customer and have an air card, the cell tower is next to the campground and it pegs out the signal meter in the VZ Access Manager.

Greetings Roy, Wife and I just got back from OBX. Stayed at the KOA located at Rodanthe. Not impressed for the money. It was clean with 30A and 50A pull through sites located quick walk to the beach.
We did a walk over to Camp Hatteras and will stay there this spring or head down to Avon. CH had nice sites with concrete patios and looked well kept.
We live in the Greenville NC area and have spent much time at the OBX. We just got our MH in August and this was our first CG experience there. We are looking forward to many long weekend trips all up and down the OBX.
Enjoy

We stayed at Camp Hatterus this past spring for 10 days. We stayed on the Bay Side and the sunsets are awesome!!! We were very happy and hope to go back this spring. Not sure what the other campgrounds in the area are like, but would highly recommend this one. Also, the sites are plenty big enough. Our 40' fifth wheel and truck fit on the site without any issues.
Have fun!!!!

We stayed at Camp Hatteras several times and it is well kept and clean. We always try to get site #380 which will put the passenger side of the coach toward the sound with nothing to block the view. www.camphatteras.com
