Overnite enroute to Bethpage Rally

Heading north on I-85 and needing a place to overnite near or above Durham or Raleigh. Not finding much in that area. Seems that once you get past Charlotte camp grounds/ RV parks are fewer and far between. Not really wanting to do the WalMart thing.

Really ...If you head N on I-77 and then I-80 ( I think ) there are TONS of Passport America CG's..GOOD LUCK....D

I'm assuming you're wanting to stay on I85 all the way to VA. We've never camped in that immediate area and you're right, the pickins are a little slim based on the TL Directory. But if Greensboro isn't too early for stopping, there's Greensboro Campground. That one gets decent ratings. And in Durham there's Birchwood Park but the ratings for that one aren't so good.

Falls Lake (NC) state park is off of I-85 after you pass Durham heading northeast towards Petersburg VA.

It has a nice lakeside campground. Stayed there for a few days break.

Then it is an easy drive into Bethpage CG from there.

Leaving early in the AM, may stop at the dealer near Spartanburg and then on to Greensboro NC CG for an overnite then on to the National.
