Hi All, We will be headed to the Keys in a few months and I'm trying to plan the trip. We will be getting into the Homestead/Florida City area late (9-11 PM) and looking for a place to park for the nite. Anyone know of a Walmart or some quick stop between Lake Okeechobee and Florida City that we could use? Or an inexpensive campground where we can arrive late and leave early?
Thanks!

Are you coming down I-95? Okeechobee and Florida City are pretty far apart - approx 100 miles .... Why not get in a little early somewhat further North and then go to the Keys the next morning .... If you stay around Port St. Lucie then the Keys is only about 230 miles away.

We live very close to the Hard Rock Seminole Casino in Hollywood and have, on a regular basis, seen RV's staying in their lots. In fact, we have stayed there ourselves when we took our RV out of storage before a trip. The Hard Rock is off the Florida Turnpike about an hour north of Florida City.

Thanks for the responses. We will be comming down I-95 from NC. The reason for saying Lake Okeechobee, is that we have never been there before and wanted to see what it looks like. But that part of othe trip is open. The main thing is to get to Key West by early afternoon. We will be spending the previous night in the Brunswick GA area.
Thanks again

Thanks Jim&Sandy. I'll check into the group forums. This seems like a pretty helpful bunch of RVers. I know some of the other forums I use, you can't post something without starting an argument!
I'll check the schedule for the rallys. Unfortunately, I still have to work for a living, so maybe if the group rallys are nearby and on weekends, we could make it. As you can tell from the original post, our big spring trip is to the Keys. We are also planning a weekend getaway to Edisto Beach SP in March.
We live in Monroe, NC just east of Charlotte. Thanks for the invite.

I have no personal knowledge but several small towns and cg's around Lake. I would go over to www.rvparkreview and see comments. Here is link for Walmart but hard to know safe vs. unsafe areas and looks like no one here so far familiar with it. Lots of options off I95 for quick stop.
