We are headed to Asheville, NC this Wednesday. Will be coming from the Florida Panhandle through Atlanta and on to Asheville, NC.

Was hoping to get suggestions as to the best route to follow in our motorhome. Have traveled South FROM there to the Panhandle by heading down I26 to US25 and skirting around the West side of Greenville, SC to I85 then on to Atlanta and to Florida.

Any thoughts on following the same route into Asheville...considering any grades, etc?

I was talking with some friends tonight and they felt a better route was to get off I85 on US178 before you get to Greenville, SC and follow it on up to Asheville. What do you think about that routing?

Would appreciate any and all thoughts.

Thanks,

We make that jaunt frequently and take SC 11 off of I-85 at exit 1 just over the GA/SC State Line. We stay on SC-11 until it gets to US-25 at Cleveland, SC the we take US-25 to to I-26. It's a nice rural 2 lane with rolling hills.

The only steep grade is the couple miles before US-25 crosses the SC/NC State line.
