Last weekend's rallies in Florida (Cooters) and South Carolina (Appalachian Campers) both had good turnouts!
Now's the time to start thinking about next spring. Here's what the Florida Cooters are thinking about : Cooter fest in SC
Anybody interested????

heh heh!!! We might be in for that. We got cooters in S Georgia as well. Have to see what the future looks like, but I have never raced a cooter before. I might stand a chance if it is a slow one.

Hi Dave,
Great to see all of the Interest in the Cooters, some one has done a good job in getting all of this going, it has even got me looking 2 or 3 times a day to watch what is haptening with all of the FlA Cooters.
Jim (Appalachian Region)

Hi All,
Here you go C&C R this was taking from the history page of the Spring Cooter Fest website!
"People laughed then and still laugh now when someone refers to a turtle as a "Cooter" . . . but let's set the record straight. The term "Cooter" is correct. Cooter is not slang or a crude reference to a turtle. "Cooter" is the term given to a class of turtles composed of 8 species that live in various aquatic habitats. "Cooter" are found chiefly in the Central and Southeastern United States. "Cooters" prefer the quiet waters of canals, lakes and slow rivers with an abundance of vegetation. Most Allendale County "Cooters" are found in ditches or ponds. The name "Cooter" is used in the Southeastern United States while the name "Slider" is used to designate the same group in the Mississippi Valley."
Hope this helps some!

Sounds like we have the start of a great combination rally in the Southeast. I still laugh every time I think about the rally at Hunting Island. What a great group of people having fun
PS: I'll challenge all other clubs to try and beat "Scooter the Florida Cooter" at the South Carolina Cooter Fest races.

We had such a good time with you all at Hunting Island. It sure would be great to get together with everyone again. We loved the park but it was the friends that made it so much fun. Hope to see you all soon.

It's not too early to be thinking about the spring rally (May 1-3) in South Carolina. Hope some Appalachian Campers can rally with the Florida Cooters for the Spring Cooter Fest in Allendale, SC. Some of us will be moving on to Myrtle Beach afterward.

Just kicking this up to the top again. This event is less than two months away. Now's the time to make reservations and join the Florida Cooters for Cooterfest in SC.

All right Appalachian Campers. I don't see much activity on a Spring rally up your way. Remember Hunting Island or Stone Mountain? We all had fun at those rallies.
Why not join the Florida Cooters in Allendale, SC for that town's annual Cooterfest and do it again? (Their wayward cooter mascot is at right). All the info is on the Florida Cooter forum. Come on down (or up). Some Cooters will be heading for Myrtle Beach after Cooterfest. We are planning on heading to Meadows of Dan on our way to NJ.

Maybe we could do something at Meadows of Dan. The ocean is just to far for us at over 4.00 a gal..
