We would love to join you folks but have something else going on at that time. We've stayed at James Island County Park in the past and it is a wonderful facility. We also toured the Yorktown at Patriot's Point and it was a great experience.
Now, if you want some great, fresh seafood at a very reasonable price, be sure and try Hyman's downtown. It was hands-down the most frequently recommended seafood restaurant by the locals and we were not disappointed.

I will be coming down HWY 17. Do I stay on HWY17 to get to James Island or is there a better way around Charleston ?

If you are not in a big hurry, you can just stay on 17. You will cross the big suspension bridge over the Cooper River. Once over the bridge (several blocks south), turn left on Folly Road. Go about 1/2 mile and you can turn right on Central Park Road; another 1/2 mile or so, turn left on Riverland Road and the park entrance will be on your right. That's the route we've taken when leaving James Island and heading to Myrtle Beach.

smlranger has it right. South on 17, over the bridge and follow the signs. Well marked you cannot really miss it.
If you are using a GPS enter the address and it will take you right to the door. Once you enter the park stop at the gate, tell them you are going to the camp ground. Stop at the office to register and the sites are just across the street.on the left.

We have been going to Charleston for several years, but have never done a harbor tour. We keep saying we are going to do this yet never get around to it. Well this time .... Charleston Harbor Boat Tours - Spiritline Cruises of Charleston We both like ships and big bridges and this fits the bill.
When Ms Carol was healthy we climbed all over the Yorktown and even walked throught the submarine and she had a ball.
So maybe some or even all of us could do the cruise while we are there.

Sounds good,we did the tour years ago but that is something we wouldn't mind doing again. I can't handle the Yorktown either. Are you definitely coming, are you signed up?? Hope to see y'all there!

Oh yeah, we will there and are trying to get my son and his bunch to join us. They were married in Charleston or just across the river.
"Somebody" has not gotten around to making the reservations yet. *ducks head as a coffee cup comes flying by*
Somebody might have given this person wrong information on the dates
Right now we are trying to get some details worked out for Stone Montain, but I am in Atlanta so much it will be like a bus driver taking a trip on his own bus.

Connie and I are very interested in the cruise. Hopefully the cruise lines will have a ship in port, and BMW's will be loading for export. The other is the Yorktown tour.
Guess we have 2 days covered.
We also have to find a restaurant for the newlyweds anniversary dinner.
