Here are the details for the Spring Rally at Stone Mountain State Park in Georgia:

Arrival: Thursday, April 22, 2010

Departure: Sunday, April 25, 2010

Sites: 14 sites have been reserved on Trail F of the campground: Sites 160-168 and 163A-167A. The full campground map can be viewed here: http://hfeimages.aristotle.net/Gener...-%20Spring.pdf

Cost: $50 per night, per site (regular price is $55). A $50 deposit will be required from each camper in order to hold the site.
Stone Mountain Park's Cancellation Policy
- We have a 5 day (120 hour) cancellation policy. You will receive a deposit refund less a $10 cancellation fee if your reservation is cancelled anytime prior to 5 days of your scheduled visit. Your deposit will not be refunded if the cancellation occurs less than 5 days prior to your scheduled visit (for prepaid packages, a $50 cancellation fee will apply). All cancellation requests MUST BE IN WRITING and faxed to 770-413-5082 or emailed to campground@stonemountainpark.com. Please note, if you made your reservation online, the $5 service charge is not refundable. Cancellations via phone messages WILL NOT be honored.

Cut-off date for reservations: March 15, 2010. Any unclaimed sites will be released after this date and made available to other campers. Sites in the rally area may or may not be available after that date.

Other Information: Each camper pays a one-time entry fee of $10. Once at the campground, a car pass is provided for Park re-entry.

Making reservations: To get the rally rate when making reservations, call 800-385-9807 and tell them you are with the iRV2 Southeast Campers.

Activities: There is a large open area behind sites 163A to 167A which can be used for a Timberlake Toss (Ladder Golf) tournament and a potluck if everyone is so inclined. The laser show will take place on April 24 at dusk on the Great Lawn. No tickets required. See Post #30 further down on this thread for more activity details.

Who's going?
1. Jim&MJ (Jim & MJ) Site 164A
2. AL (Al & Mickey the Boston) Site 167A
3. MikeT&MoT (Mike and Maureen) Site 167
4. 50 kw (Duncan & Rose) Site 166
5. ?
6. ?

The Stone Mountain folks assure me that sites have been much improved since our last visit several years ago. The loop we are in has some of the largest and most improved sites in the park.

Once you've made your reservations, go ahead and post and I'll add your name to the list. I'll also update activities as warranted.

Hope to see many campers from the Southeast region as well as any snowbirds heading north around that time. Any newbies that have been lurking and wondering if you should come to a rally, now's the time.

I might suggest that any of you in the area try to make this one...I have always heard fun things about this "dual group" rally!
Good luck with the weather and have fun!!

Thanks to Dave and Jo Ann for pulling this one together and making the plans, this should be a fun rally!

As a group, we took a tour of the Coke Factory in downtown Atlanta when we had the Appalachian Campers Spring Rally there in 2005 along with going to the laser show. The wagonmaster for that one was 'dc6mech' Ben Dominy. Ben and Jacki were very active members of the Appalachian campers and attended many of our rallies until his passing the following year.

I have a surgery scheduled at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville on 3/17 and if all goes well I should be back up to speed in time to make this one. But I'm apprehensive on booking a ressie until I know more about the recovery time. Does anyone know what Stone Mtn's cancellation policy is on the deposit? Refundable or forfeited?

Richard,
Excellent question. I have added the verbatim answer from SMP on my first post so everyone is aware.

Glad to see all of you are coming to town!

The World of Coca-Cola Museum has been completely re-done and I think that has been done since the iRV2's last visit in 2005. Well worth it!

Across the street from WCC is the GA. Aquarium. This is also an amazing destination, especially if you have kids! Georgia Aquarium | Atlanta Attractions | Things To Do Atlanta

A lot of people like to visit "Underground Atlanta". My personal opinion, is that this historic underground section of town, has a HUGE potential for it's historic value, but alas, the City of Atlanta has turned it into an underground mall.

For the train buffs, we have a couple of nice train museums...
Southeastern Railway Museum Southeastern Railway Museum
I have not been to this one but have heard good things about it.

Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History
I have been to this one, and it was an interesting visit, good for a couple of hours.

There is an Atlanta Braves home game on 4/22 at 7:10pm vs. the Phillies... 2010 Braves Schedule | braves.com: Schedule

That's all I have for now...not sure if I will be able to attend camping yet, but sure can drop by over the weekend! See you all there!!

Eric & Celina,

Thanks for posting all the informative links. I know we had a great time at Stone Mountain at the last rally. There should be lots of time for folks to go and do their own thing as well as time for group activities (like eating). We're looking forward to it and hope to see some old friends and make some new ones too.

Dave

Al, I was just checking and going to Atlanta would be a good way for you to go to pick up I81 and back to the lake house. Coming East out of Stone Mountain to James Island would be a bit out of the way for you and I expect that you're going to want to get back up to the house come April.

Nancy & Bill,

Looking forward to seeing you!

As time gets closer, we'll figure out the eating details. We look at potlucks as just that. One time for another rally, I got jumped on because I started a sign-up thread for who was bringing what. So now, if everyone ends up bringing a pot of beans...well, we'll be eating a lot of beans
