Thinking of making a move

We are now situated in SW FL and are thinking of moving to somewhere in the SE (N FL, GA, SC, etc). Looking for recommendations with RV garages attached to small house without overwhelming HOA fees. Any opinions appreciated!

Lake Weir, FL

I drove through this neighborhood several years ago (it is not too far from The Villages). HOA was low to non-existent and you could add an RV garage to any home.

Listings - Lake Weir Preserve

Here's another one in Crossville, TN. They have a campground on site that you can stay in if you want to visit.

For us.. IF there is a "HOA" involved in any way, we just continue to look...elsewhere.

PM me if you want more info on The Gardens. We struggled for 2 years with "the process", doing many times over the work that should have been done by the developer, and finally sold our lot. Be sure to go in with your eyes wide open and understand their price per sf is about $200 or more, not including lot and lot prep, which is significantly higher than anything else in the area for much less finish level.

BTW, the "campground" is just some spaces in a small area that have FHU near where the contractors park their trailers.

Thanks for that spuds. That did look a little pricey compared to a few we did look at. We actually took a ride up to Lake Weir to see their place. Didn't look anything like the on line brochure. Houses were scattered sparsely in a very rural setting.

It's not exactly N FL, but it's north of SW; and a LOT less congested: TGO (The Great Outdoors) in Titusville, FL. Resort fees are about $2,400/yr and include water, garbage, sewer, sprinkler system, grass/yard maintenance and 24 hours security. HOA fees can range from $14/yr to $720/yr depending on what you want to live in. See it at https://www.tgoresort.com and Community Services Association*

I hear there is something in Clermont, FL too.

Take a look at River Vista RV park in Dillard, Ga. Also Falls View...which is attached to River Vista and has some really nice RV spaces for sale. We own a cabin in Falls View and love the area.
Just as a reminder, if you are permanently moving from FL....PLEASE check taxes in each state....
Safe travels

Thanks for the tip. We like the Dillard area. Since the original post, we have decided to keep our FL house and look for an RV site in a nice park to purchase. Any other suggestions are appreciated. We'll be heading up to TN early Oct. and back through the Carolinas. We plan on looking at a few parks along the way.

Have you thought of just buying a piece of land and building what you want? No HOA to worry about that way.

Yes, we have started to explore that possibility also, thanks!

I was wondering if you have any further update on your looking. BTW, Lake Weir doesn't have any HOA which is the thing we liked most about them.

Well, we have decided to keep the house in S Fl. and are on track to be on the road for 6 months out of the year. Still open to purchasing somewhere but we're finding out there's a lot of somewheres out there. I guess we'll know when we find it.

Thanks. That's what we've been finding also - the more we look the more we see there are more places to look. We can't even settle on a state. Starting to think we'll just do this until we can't anymore - unless something calls to us. But we do like hearing about how other people are going about this.
