This is only for those going to the Mayberry rally we need a head count of those interested in splitting the cost of a pig and the gas to cook it.In all fairness we would need everyone to agree. At this time we do not know the going price of a pig the end of Oct.but as soon as we find out we'll let everyone know.

Tom,

If you want to do it and get enough interested to make it worthwhile count me in.

Someone posted that it'd be an awful lot of work and fussin' with it all day so don't feel like you ought to do it just to appease us or me. Your call on that.

I have no idea what a pig would cost or where to go to get one. All I know is they taste great!

Some have said that it a lot of trouble. It is if you cook with wood, but with gas it not bad. We use to salt them down and cook meat side down and turn it the last two hours. I was talking with a friend that cooks them with gas and he said his brother in law cooks them skin side down and does not turn them. I would rather turn and baste as this is the way I have done it before. It does take a long time to cook around five to six hours. I was thinking we could get one Saturday morning and have it around 6 pm .
I was planning to make this a pig picking where you go get what you want off the grill. This makes it a lot easier. We will save the snout for Doc.
