Winston Salem/RV full time Question
Hey everyone,
I am wondering if anyone knows the law concerning staying in my TT while developing land in WS. We are buying 5.5 acres, and plan on developing it ourselves. We will be staying a few nights here and there. Can I keep a TT on the property so long as it is not a "Permanent" home?

Think you are going to have to check the local zoning laws, that govern exactly what
street the property is. County, Township, City?, Development?

It is in Winston Salem, Forsyth County, no sub division, no township, and no covenants. From what I can tell by the code, it says you can park an RV on your property as long as it isn't your permanent dwelling. My real estate agent thinks so long as it is in the center of the property (out of site, out of mind) and we aren't staying more than a few nights a month, that we should be ok. Thoughts?

Contact your county then.
Nobody on a national forum is going to be able to give you any legal advice that is specific to your county. I wouldn't trust a realtor either. You are the one legally responsible one way or the other.
Speculating, there may be specific items that have to be in place (for instance a building permit for the house you're going to build), which then allows 'construction trailers' for xx period of time.
I actually think it's a disadvantage that you're not there quite a bit of the time. It could be out of compliance and they tag it with a note saying something like you have 15 days to resolve, and you would never know it.

It hasn't. Got tired of fighting with the county. Bought 9 acres in Rockingham county instead, and bought an "A" class RV. There are some dumb laws in this state!
