Maryland State Inspection for 40' Single Axle?

Hey everyone!

I'm registering my 40' DP MH in Glen Burnie/Millersville in Anne Arundel County Maryland.

I need to get it inspected before I can register it. I was wondering if anyone has a fair price they've paid? One shop quoted $275 for a single axle MH.

I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks!
Justin

Hi Justin,

It has been a couple of years since I had my 36 foot Hurricane inspected but I believe that is about what I paid.

A little less $ on the eastern shore in some shops, more in others. I think your price is right on for Millersville.

Call MD State Police ASED

Call the Automotive Safety Enforcement Division within the Maryland State Police. They can give you some help and guidance since state inspections are their responsibility.
Try this link -- the Glen Bernie office is the main office.

I know. I used to work there.

Any good shop will pull all the tires, and do a complete inspection of all components. This includes brakes, bearings, tires, driveline, exhaust, steering etc. When you are dealing with a 40 ft rig, it going to be considerable more than a car or truck. Lots of shops don't even like working on motorhomes. The price doesn't seem too far out of line to me. Cross your fingers that it passes without needing much more. Cheers.

Update!

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all of your replies. I ended up taking it to B and G Automotive in Odenton off of MD-32 on recommendation from my auto-mechanic. It was 10 minutes from my house and Craig was extremely helpful. He got my inspection done, noted a couple of very small issues (couple of clearance/markers out and of course, wipers ).

I found Craig to be extremely transparent, he gave me his card let me know to give him all call anytime with any questions, and he got me on the road without any issues. So, if you're ever in the area and need some work, I'd recommend them.

Thanks again and safe travels!
