Amazing. We're doing the same thing at the same time, PA to ME in June '16.

Taking 2 days each way, starting in Lancaster. We've done this trip several times, but this will be the first time towing our TT. Across NY via I84 to Newburgh, up the NY Thruway to Albany/Troy, Rt. 7 across to Brattleboro where we will overnight. Scenery is great from Albany all the way through NH. We're also planning the scenic route from Allentown/Bethlehem via US 209 along the Delaware to Milford where we'll catch I84; usually we head up I81 to Scranton and then across.

Day 2 we'll hit Concord and a bunch of small towns, arriving at the Maine coast in Wells for a stop at the famous Maine Diner. After enjoying their incredible lobster pie we'll do 95 to Portland, and US 1 to Boothbay Harbor, where we'll be staying for a week.

Coming back we plan to basically reverse the trip.

Bennington and Wilmington VT are nice visits. Hogback Mountain is an incredible view. Brattleboro is pleasant.

We're stopping overnight at Hinsdale Campground, just across the river from Brattleboro, and then staying for 8 days at Shore Hills outside Boothbay Harbor. Never been in either campground, but have driven past Shore Hills many times. Shore Hills reviews are pretty good, Hinsdale is only about average. We'll see. Owners of both CGs have been nice on the phone and via email. Plus, we're going pre-season; seems the summer tourist season opens on June 20, and we're getting back to Lancaster on the 17th.

Enjoy!

Roger

P.S. From where you are in PA I'd suggest I80 to I81 and then catch I84, if you like our route. There are some mountains, but the scenery is great.

I'll google this soon but is Boothbay Harbor a town or campground's?
What is Hogback Mountain too?
Thank's for the route's, probably will take the big interstate's.
So do you think making this a two day trip is better than going straight to?

Sorry, I triple read your second paragraph, Boothbay a town.

Hogback Mountain is a worthwhile stop on Rt. 9 in VT between Bennington and Brattleboro, VT. It's an incredible scenic overlook, plus the Hogback Mountain Gift Shop. Hogback Mountain Gift Shop

We don't like to race from place to place, and my wife likes to avoid interstates when possible so we break the trip into 2 days. We've made 4 or 5 trips to Maine, and really like the Boothbay area in mid-coast Maine. So we're going to camp there, and then do various day activities.

Plus we're retired, so time is not that big a deal - we have the luxury of taking our time now.

Where are you headed in Maine?

Roger

A great place to eat in Wilmington Vt. is Dotties right on Rt 9 but might be hard to find a parking spot for a rv. They are just by the light on the left side if heading east.

Hey, we ate there once! That's the place that has the bay window seat that extends out over the stream. And you're right, parking an RV would be a challenge!

Just checked Google Maps, and Street View. There's a lot of off-street parking to the right, south of Rt. 9, just before you get to the traffic light. I don't think an RV would be a problem there.

I have parked my car in that lot to eat at the pizza shop across the street and of course depending on how full the lot is depends on how easy. There is a shopping center a little east that might work not sure how far to walk.
