Anyone know of any really nice rustic grounds, can be boat in, but we want some nice private sites where we can feel like we are alone under the stars, near a lake for some fishing would be great too.

Looking in the PA, NY or mid-atlantic region.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

~ Kim

Association Island in NY. Wife & I were there in the fall. Not real rustic at camp, but there's a secluded peninsula with a beach we kayaked to at night for alot of privacy. They have a marina & boat ramp.

Welcome to IRV2 !!!

You might try to check some of the Corp of Engineer campgrounds in PA as some are quite isolated and have to boated to or hiked into, while others can be driven into.

Click HERE and do a search.

Take a look at Calf Creek in south central Utah. It is in the middle of nowhere, and has maybe 15 camp sites. Great trout fishing and hiking are at your doorstep. But you must be self sufficient!

In NJ you have Panther Lake in Andover NJ (Sussex County). Their transient sites are E/W only. But there is a lake that you can drop a boat in or rent a boat.

you can also go to Delaware River CG which borders the Delaware river.

There are others if you checkout this site.

Kinzua Dam / Allegheny Resevoir in NW Penna has boat in campgrounds. Also, article in today's paper said that all the campgrounds are underutilized all year long. 30 to 50% utilization even during what would be considered peak times. That should be enough peace and quite! Oh! buy the way the area is breathtakingingly beautiful.
