route to rally

we plan on leaving southeastern Virginia Friday and using I95 most of the way. But there is not an interstate that goes directly to Myrtle Beach so it's 74 onto NCstate route 410 to US701 and down that way through Lumberton and Red Hill. it looks like about a 100 miles of single lane road through the corn fields of North and South Carolina. anyone else ever drove down through that area?

From I-95 you could go E on I-40 to Wilmington then U.S. 17 to Myrtle Beach. I drove from Charleston to Myrtle Beach then on up U.S. 17 to Jacksonville, then St Hwy 24, U.S. 70 and St Hw 12 to the Cedar Island - Ocracoke Island Ferry.
U.S. 17 is 4 lane with few crossroads or traffic lights.
