Looking for suggestions for a quiet campground located in the southern Vermont / New Hampshire / Mass area for a weekend getaway. Full Hooks ups are nice but not required, must allow dogs, hiking in a scenic area a plus quiet getaway required. Ideas ? Thanks

One campground you might want to check out is the Hinsdale Campground, 4 South Road,
Hinsdale, NH 03451, Phone: 603-336-8906. Hinsdale is in the South West corner of NH.

We've stayed at this campground a couple of times, they have full hook ups, level sites that will accommodate almost any size RV, the campground is clean & nicely kept. We take our two goldens, not sure if they have any pet restrictions. The sites are pretty much back in only, but are angled to make backing in easier. Not sure how close they are to walking trails.

I agree on Hinsdale. There are 2 state parks in the area that offer a ton of hiking trails. They do allow quads, but have a seperate trail system for hikers.

Hey Russ, you can check out Pine Acres in central Mass. We really enjoyed a stay there in the spring. http://www.pineacresresort.com/

We enjoy a very small campground (about $20 a night) called Howell's Campground on No Name Street, Arlington VT. It has good electricity and some of the sites have sewer. If not, they do pumpouts and have never charged us. They have a hotspot in the lounge (and a nice close library with wifi), and while there is very little TV getting (because of the woods and no cable on sites), they have a TV in the lounge if you needed to watch anything special. Lots of areas to hike, and they have a path to the Battenkill.
Nice big field for the dog to run, and a pond for swimming.
We've been seasonal there..it's just a nice, small family run campground. They don't have too many sites for really big rigs. They have a lot of seasonals, but it's very very quiet..except when we all descend on it on the 4th of July. If you go, be sure to tell Gloria Doris sent you. I think she'll let you in anyway LOL!
