Unfortunately my timing this Friday will put me in the Hartford area around 4:30pm. What's the best way to get to the Tappanzee Bridge at that time. I've done both 84 to Danbury to 684 and 91 to 95 but I usually time my trips to avoid peak traffic.
Thanks

Bob,
You didn't mention you final destination, but..
Personally, I no longer take the Tappanzee Bridge. Last time we did, a Dodge Neon rear ended us, needle to say, the Neon shouldn't have messed with the class 3 hitch and a large object to try and push.
If we're heading West or South, we take 84 to 87 or to 81, depending on our destination.

In my humble opinion, I would do everything possible to leave much earlier or much later, because there is no good option for the time you are planning. Sorry....

Hey Bob Russo,

I agree with gMw,Dickson & Jersey Bob do what you have to to stay off 95! Also I don't know what your time frame is, or if you can afford to stop and relax for a little while maybe have dinner, and then go through Hartford after rush hour. Hope this helps some, and rush hour or not, 95 or not have a good time!!

Coming from the Wolfeboro, NH area our final destination is FL via Mrytle Beach.

Since our daughter and 3 grandchildren (all under 5) will be with us we'll stop for dinner, get them ready for bed and let the traffic subside. If all goes well, they will fall asleep as we continue to drive until around midnight and stop at the Flying J in MD which is approx 470 miles from home. Rest of the trip will be driven in daylight with fewer miles/ day.

Thanks for the replies.

Hey Bob Russo,

That sounds like a good plain to me, rush hour is not fun no matter what road your on!! In June we are going to Williamsburg and since I will be useing 95 !! We will leave our area around 7PM after rush hour! Drive to Fredricksburg VA, stop over night in Cracker Barrell, get up early and go in for a good breakfast !! Then be on our way and never any rush hour to deal with !!

Once you get by the 95/91 split going southbound there really is no rush hour traffic in the evening.....it's all going northbound. But 95 is still 95 and anything can happen. If you get stucjk anywhere around exit 15 to 13 give me a call.

When it's just the DW and me, we usually take 95. Coming from NH if we can leave a day early we'll overnight at Mohegan because it knocks off about 3 hours. Then we can either leave before or after morning rush hour. It makes for a better trip for us. Not sure why but as bad as 95 is I just hate driving 84 from Hartford to Danbury.

Thanks for all the input. We're off tomorrow!

We arrived at the Rt 84 Welcome Center about 4:15 and stayed until 6:00. DW preferred 84 rather than 91 to 95. No traffic, sailed right thru. Got to Flying J in North East, MD at 11:15.

Thanks for the help
