****Editted to add, the group already voted and decided on Turning Stone. Mike and Lynda are the Wagon Masters. Sorry for the confusion, I must have been away from the gathering when it was voted on. Great to know someone is already on it.

I like the Lake George area but I know it's quite a drive for lots of folks. There is lots to do though. Hiking, boating, amusement parks, museums, biking and of course great shopping. But like I said, I know it's a long ways for some.

We love going to Lake George and I'm sure its just as far as some other places we have been. My parents also would be up for Lake George too. Like you said there is soooo much to do there. Maybe you should take a poll to see where the people want to go. Lake George or Turning Stone.

Doris, which ones have you contacted?
Dare I say this... how about a different weekend in September? Not Labor Day but after?

I guess I will put in my two cents! I have stayed at all of the campground you listed except, Rainbow, but I did drive through and I thought it was nice, not a fancy place, but clean and nice people. Schroon Valley, was ok, not that many level sites but they had a pavilion. Lake George RV park, well it is expensive but speaks for itself with the indoor pools and trolly service to Lake George.
Dont know anything about Adirondack adventure, Ledgeview is real nice, but I like my other two furry kids with us. Doris, i think you covered all the campgrounds in that area, so If Columbus day weekend is no available, I would be fine with another weekend.
If I can be of some help let me know.

We have also stayed at King Phillips which is pretty much intown but seemed ok. I don't know if they have a rally field but they do have a pavillion because we were near it. We have also stayed at Alpin Lake which is a little farther away but within an hour of Lake George. They have a life size dinosaur there. George kept making dinosaur calls every night and frightening small children and cowardly adults.
We have also stayed at Wakonda and we like it there. However it is father away from things.
We stayed at Lake George Escape once and didn't care for it. Full service sites are very close together. The staff was less than friendly. But that was quite a few years ago and things may have changed.
I just look forward to getting together and the place is somewhat less important.

I am not sure what we're missing, but it was decided at Roundout Valley last fall, That Lynda and I would be wagon masters at Turning Stone next Fall. Although it is a couple of months yet before they open we have done quite a bit of prelim planning.

Oh well, you got it, have fun and we'll catch you again someday.

oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I must have been in lala land when that was decided. I'll see if I can get a mod to delete the Fall rally posts. I'm so sorry, I really did not have any idea that we had already decided. Too much vacation lately, I guess. Please, continue on. Since I didn't know it was settled, and I know how far in advance it was when I got in touch with the group coordinator, I just posted to make sure we secured a spot since it's a holiday weekend.
Please, go on with your plans, I love Turning Stone, and I'm sure others do too. I'm sooo very sorry.

edited to add: I brought this up originally, because I got a reminder from the group coordinator and because last time, I didn't book in time, and was unable to get closer to the pavilion. Worked out good anyway, as we all loved our sites. I really didn't remember discussing this with the whole group, or I never would have posted it.

It is clear that several NorEasters were unable to participate in discussions about the 05 Fall rally and they have other suggestions on a location and time. That puts us in a very uncomfortable position that we choose not to be in. When a consensus is reached we will try to contribute.

MIke, Just because I was klutz about this, and missed the fireside chat, please don't cancel the plans you made. I did appologize via the email you have listed here on IRV2, and I hope you got it, since I can't find your "other" email addy. Please accept my apology if you didn't get the email I sent. It was already discussed and decided at the fire, and I'm sure everyone will just love the rally at Turning Stone. It was my brain freeze, not others, and I'm looking forward to a fun time, as I'm sure others are as well!
