We stayed at Fisherman's Memorial State Park this past weekend and enjoyed our stay...
We seldom, okay almost never, stay at state parks, so were surprised by a few things. Not a bad surprise, just things it would have been nice to know about and prepare for ahead of time.
When we arrived at the entrance we were asked to show a copy of our reservation confirmation from Reserve America. Then we were directed to the first building on the right, to get our camping permit.
To get your camping permit, we needed to show the following items:
- Reservation confirmation
- Driver's license
- Vehicle registrations, for each vehicle we were bringing in
- Pets (limit 2) we were told to show a copy of their vaccination records and their license
You'll want to have your stuff handy when you get there.
Campground - Grounds are very nicely kept, paved roads throughout the park, all the sites we saw are grassy with paved pads to park on, and there's ample spacing between sites.
Playground - large area on the right, between the building where we picked up the camping permit and the campsites.
Sites - Many of the sites angle upward. Based on services (water & electric) on the left, the RV pads seemed to be on an up angle (back lower - front higher). With a motorhome, like ours (long wheel base), I'm planning to bring boards to place under the tires to help with the leveling. I'm thinking trailers and 5th wheels will level easier. Sites 38, 39, 75, & 93 are fairly level, normal RV leveling devices will likely handle the leveling.
Cell Phone – Verizon is our provider, coverage good, 5 bars (on my phone), your coverage may vary :-)
WiFi – none
With the exception of sites 27 & 63, I have pictures of the sites reserved for the Fall Rally, more than willing to email you a copy, please PM your email address to me.
