Good news and Sad news

Hello all,
It's been a long time since I have been on this site for many reasons. I think I have checked in about three times in the past year. I do my best. So I thought I would give a quick update.
First, Memorial Day weekend I accepted a part time position as a Fire Investigator for Onondaga County. Ten years as an apprentice finally paid off. June 1st I was promoted to Lieutenant of A Platoon here at the fire department. I am in charge of Emergency Medical Services for the department and it's ambulances. Been a long time coming. The past 6 months has kept me very busy and the change in my schedule back to a rotating shift screwed up lots of our summer plans and camping.
Second, We also arranged our camping around our dog LC's health. Her hip displasia was bad and in August she was diagnosed with cancer. It was a hard battle and very hard for us, but we had to put LC down on Thursday just short of her 12th birthday. Her pain is over and our hearts are heavy. She was one of the best dogs we have ever had and was a great camping buddy. She will be dearly missed.
That's the latest from here in Syracuse. Hope this note finds you all well and safe. Hopefully, I will be more active in IRV2 someday soon.

Brett and Andrea, Glad to hear about your good news, but sympathize for your furry pet loss. We had the same thing happen in August after 16 years. It will be tough for some time. We still have our moments of grief and find a few more with X-mas coming. He loved opening presents and we always hung a stocking for him next to the Grand kids. Have you visited the web site for pet loss grief? www.rainbowbridge.com

Sounds like LC had 12 very good years with a loving family. She is happy for that, and your memories will bring joy to you in the future.

Great for the good news. We feel your pain on the loss of your best friend. That is a very hard thing to do as we had to do it last year just four days before Christmas. The real sad part for our Houston is that he was but six years old. Take care and try to have a great Holiday Season.

Brett, I know you have a computer and the Internet at the firehouse so no excuses. Check in on us every so once in a while ... we get lonely!

I am sorry about the loss of your furry best friend. You know that he had good life and that you did your best. He's in doggie heaven right now with the pack.

Working at the fire house I know you should be getting a lot of leave on the books so don't forget to go camping and have a little fun!

I'm retired after 28 years from the FD.

Hey guys,

Thanks for checking in! We think of you often and wonder how you’re doing.

We are so sorry to hear that you lost your beloved LC. She was very lucky to have found such wonderful people to give her a loving home. We know how hard it is to say goodbye to such a loyal companion. We hope your warm memories of LC at this difficult time bring you comfort.

And congratulations, Lieutenant, on your promotion! We’ve actually been thinking of you this past week since there was a tragic loss of a veteran firefighter in nearby Massachusetts who was trapped when a multi-family home collapsed on him after he went back into the home because they thought there was someone still inside. Please stay safe.

Whew, moving on… We hope we can catch up with you in the camping days ahead!
