We have a trip planned for 5 weeks mid Sept to mid Oct to Maine & Vermont. Looking to info on gas prices in these areas as well as NY State. We are thinking about cancelling if the gas situation gets worse.

GG1, I think it's a fact that both gas and diesel "will be" expensive during the time of your vacation. We all have to decide whether we can live with that situation or stay home. That said, if your traveling either north or south on Rt I95 in NH the gas in Seabrook NH at Rt107 & I95 is consistantly a few cents a gallon less than other places and will most likely be the cheapest gas/fuel you will find in that area. I normally use the "Prime" station located about 1/2 mile north of Rt107 on Rt1 when I'm in that area. At times it has been cheap enough for me to make the 26 mile trip from my house to get diesel there.
I have also found towing my boat around the southern Maine area a lot that the gas and fuel prices "seem" to be less expensive in the Augusta/Winthrop area but you'll have to get off the Maine Turnpike to get the best prices.
All of this advise is relative information, at $3.00+ per gallon it doesn't make a whole lot of sense (cents) to use gas/diesel searching for the best price. Enjoy your vacation should you decide to go. Ken

Isn't it crazy?! I paid $3.25 this morning in Buzzards Bay, MA and it is the cheapest around here. My truck will be sitting for a while or at least until snow fall. I have been riding my 1980 honda to and from work and getting close to 50 MPG. The vortec 350 is killing me, but what should we do? Not go camping? We need the TV. Can't wait to see what GM does with the buyer incentives tihs fall. I came close to buying a new truck a couple of months ago. Sure glad I held off! THey may pay me in the near future to take one off their lot. Imagine that, "GM now offering to pay you $500 to take truck from dealer".

I think Ken Hatch has it right. My rig holds 75 gal. of fuel. so for every full tank I put in and gas goes up .50 it costs me an extra $40. Am I going to stop Rving ? NO. I gaurantee you that after Labor day the price will go down and we all will be happy spending $2.50 per gallon. I have a friend of mine that spends $1.25 per mile to run his boat. Let's not worry about it, I'm only on this ride for one go- round and I'm gonna enjoy it.

That's a good one. And I agree you. I've got more of this US to see and I'm not getting any younger. We can't take it with us and if we end up in a nursing home they will take what's left, so I'm spending mine now.

When it gets to a point it gets too hard financialy I will start eating tube steaks and limiting Karens beer drinking. I am not rich by any means,I just cant imagine throwing a trip for an extra $50.00 or even a $ 100.00.All you full timers know all ya gotta do is stay longer where you are until the smoke clears.Yeah it kinda stinks ,but I got a feeling we are all gonna pull through it

Hi Everyone
I agree. I can't Imagine the goverment not stepping in to prevent price gouging. Especially when they release the nations reserve.
