Hi everyone,

What can any of you tell me about the Old Forge area? It's one of the areas here in NY we've never been to. Anywhere you can recommend? What to see? Where's the best boating, fishing, camping? We figure that might be a good place to try-heck it's a LOT closer than Myrtle Beach is. We want to go somewhere different, but closer to home.

Thanks!

Nell

It is beautiful there! What time of year are you talking about? They usually close down Columbus Day weekend.

Hi Doris,

This is for next summer-we are looking for a "home" base to do the college tour rounds in the state. Figured we'd be able to branch out from that area. I think this fall we are going to look into getting that little slice of heaven possibly up there and set the camper up on it(for a future home someday).

Hubby's gone to the area before with Scouts years ago and we're sure the areas changed since. I've been reading on what is around there and sounds like a good fit for our tastes, but are looking for people that have been there and recommendations.

Nell

Hi Al,

Sounds really good! But we've got tournaments and homecoming that weekend at the high school. Ahhh, to get out and enjoy a campfire. Sorry we'll have to miss it this go around. Hubby's taking the camper up to Pulaksi next weekend for some salmon fishing with guys from work. I guess my camping season's done though for this year.

We'll be watching to where you all end up again, maybe we can meet up at one of them.

Nell

I've only been there in the winter snowmobiling. there is a koa campground that is open all year in old forge. after peeper season everything is closed until the snow arrives. Best food at the old mill in town or the big moose inn out of town, best wings at the red dog saloon on south shore rd in Inlet.
search out the town of Webb, or old forge NY on the net.
