Hi everyone,

The DW and I are planning a trip to Maine for next season and we're looking for recommendations for campgrounds, private or state parks, or ones that we should avoid.

Thanks!

Mount Desert Narrows Camping Resort

We've been work camping here for the summer and LOVE it! So much to see in the Bar Harbor area. Employees of the campground get a lot of "freebies" too.

Do a search on Bar Harbor, ME and you'll see some of the most beautiful sites you can imagine.

We arrived in early June, and there was quite a bit of rain. Once we got through that, the weather has been great. Many campgrounds including ours, have free shuttle buses that travel to all parts of the island.

When we decided to give work camping a try, we said we would try a different location every year so we could see the country. After our first time at Mount Desert Narrows, we're coming back next year.

Forgot to mention, that they have free entertainment 7 days a week, including a performance by "Elvis" every Wednesday. Several days a week, they offer Pancake Breakfasts and three nights a week, Ice Cream Social. Lots of fun stuff for the kids, like crafts etc. They have WiFi too.
