We have returned from a great trip safe and sound. A pleasant surprise happened while driving outwest on 80, we recieved a cell call from Nancy and Jim from Pittsburgh, and after meeting in Sandusky ,Ohio we traveled the upper peninsula together and had a wonderful time. After I get my land legs back I will write a summary of our trip.

Well, I think I have cleared up the jet lag to put down some of my thoughts regarding our trio to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. We started out on July 31 with a full tank of fuel, food and our dogs. I will confess to something right away, that I made a wrong turn in N.J. and lost an hour and 50 miles before I even left the state. Needless to say this did not sit well with my DW. I figured if I got the bad over with right away the rest of the trip will be fine..
We traveled for 329 miles to a KOA CG in Bellafonte ,Pa., our next leg was to Bayshore CG in Sandusky ,Ohio a run of 293 miles. This is where we met up with Jim and Nancy from Pittsburgh, who was with the Noreasters in Scusset and Association Island.
On Aug. 3 we headed to a visit with folks that we had met in Fla. in 2004, in Fremont Michigan.
It was a beautiful idealic setting on a lake, and our friends provided us with a pad to sit on, that had a view of a lake. There was one problem, however, the power supply to this private community was low, so when I ran my AC I think I caused a brownout. The next day I shifted to a municipal CG and continued our visit. Jim and Nancy went on up to Mennasee Casino CG to wait out our visit.
We met up again with Jim and Nancy and proceeded up the coast thru Traverse city and the surrounding communities, which I consider to be the most beautiful area that I have ever seen. The lakes have the color of tropical seas.
We crossed over the Mackinac bridge which is spectacular and arrived at St Ignace for a few days. We took the ferry over to beautiful Mackinac Island and took a buggy ride and did the tourist things. We then went to Sault.Ste Marie and stayed at the Aune Osborne CG and watched the Great Lakes freighters pass by. We also visited a Casino that was nearby..
We arrived in Midland Michigan on Aug 11 where Ruth and I celebrated our 49th wedding anniversarythis leg was about 150 miles.
Our travels led us to American Wilderness CG in Grafton Ohio, this was the worst CG we stayed in during the trip, the sites were dirty and the power provided was unsat.
On this leg we said good bye to our great traveling friends ,Jim and Nancy and we continued on to Friendship Village RV park that when it is finished will be a 10. we did 271 miles this leg.
We then went to one of our favorite CGs which is Country Haven in New Holland Pa. in Lancaster County and laid over 2 days and savored the Amish foods.
We then made the final 125 mile leg home on my birthday Aug 16. My kids amd grand kids had dinner for us and my son presented me with a Garmin GPS. I guess he felt I needed it.
All in all it was an outstanding adventure and a trip to the UP is a must do.
I consumed about 310 gallons of fuel at prices that ranged from about $2.24 to $2.59 per gallon. The trip was 2304 miles.
I will rate all the CGs in the CG review section so you all will have an insight if you care to make the trip.
If anyone would like to ask me specifics please do..
After the first miscue it was as smooth as glass. and the only problem I had was a screw that fell out of a shower roller.
