So there I was at 3:30 this morning. The alarm gently aroused me for another opportunity to have a great day. But alas, fate had another plan in mind. As usual I opened the back door and let ToBi out to relieve his internal pressures while I brushed my teeth and showered for work. He faithfully returns to me and waits for two cookies before going back to sleep..... usually. This morning as I brushed my teeth, he came through the back door, went right past the bathroom and jumped into bed with my sweet, lovely slumbering bride. This action was followed almost instantly with screams that did not contain any terms of endearment. I could however pick out certain words, such as ToBi, SKUNK, Oh My Gawd!!!! and get out..get out... get out!!!. I saw ToBi running down the hall and knew that I had to do something, so I closed the door to keep him out. In retrospect, this was the first of several moves that were not founded in good judgement. When I looked out the bathroom door ToBi was out of sight and Carol was looking at me in such a way that made me wish I was with him. At this point I thought she was looking for input from me so I said "I have to go to work." Not one of my best moves. I managed to get ToBi into solitary confinement on the back porch while Carol got dressed for a 3:45 am trip to any open store seeking the fabeled tomatoe juice cure. Since then I have gone to work (where I may stay for the next several days), and ToBi has been bathed in, tomatoe juice, vinegar and water, peroxide and baking soda and shampoo. The throw rug from the bedroom is in the garbage and the bed sheets are going through wash #3.

My questions are;
1. How long should I stay at work..(I retire in 3 1/2 years).
2. Do you think 10 dozen roses would be enough??
3. Last, are there anymore remedies for skunk odors.

Go to Costco and buy 3 cases of Tomato Paste (thicker base of tomato...works better than the juice)...drive by home quickly and toss them on the front porch then head back to the office for approximately 3 years 5.5 months
Good Luck

You can cover my shift if you want.....Roses won't do it alone, it will help but better include dinner and and a favorite cocktail.

We keep a quart of skunk odor remover and a quart of skunk shampoo in the garage just in case this ever happens.

Thanks Mike, I plan to do that from now on. Although I don't know if that's gonna help me get back in the house today. MonacoMama's idea is sounding pretty good, after all it's only 3 1/2 years.

Frankie- I think Carol would rather get ToBi cleaned up then leave me with a bag of dry food and some water.

JC2 - Thanks for the link. I'll be stocking up with stuff that I hope never to use.

Thanks for the offer John, I may have to stay here, but that doesn't mean I want to work.

Hay Tom, you have a key hide out in my park model, she will never look there for you. You know I would never tell where you are.

The douche works, then make a paste of baking soda, peroxide and dove liquid soad. Then wash him with the paste solution. It worked for my dogs, my shepherd likes the taste of black and white fur

Silly dog.
Could be worse..he could have also had porcupine quills in his face..that would hurt as well as had the stink.
Make sure you keep an eye on his eyes! By now I assume you have him in better shape, and have found out you have to keep the tomato paste on for about a 1/2 haour..almost impossbile with a dog, who prob wants to shake. Must be fun at your house! A weekend away at the very least..away from the smell.

For your own personnel safety and well being, quit work and get out of town immediately.

It will take at least 10 dozen to get to one that stops on,
"She loves me"

Soak Tobi in a paste made from all the picked pedals and have Carol drink the tomato juice with plenty of vodka, not sure either will work but it may buy you some time.
