Any input would be helpful.
We meaning the wife two kids (2 and 4) and I are planing on taking a trip to the Northeast in June. We want to hit Niagara Falls, New York City and many other places. We need some ideas on other places to visit. We plan on hitting each state from Indiana to Maine. Ideas on good campgrounds, site seeing, events, things for the kids, and anything else interesting would be really helpful. We will be trailering a jeep so any cool things for a Jeep or tight places to get will be no problem. Ideas in Canada if i is close to the Northeast would also work.
Thank You Chris

There are two "Maines". One is the touristy coastal, crowded, lobster chomping, post card buying, Rt#1 delayed, busy areas next to the coast. (don't get me wrong, if ya aint been there yet chum, ya better get there while ya can). You may even see George-41 or George-43 fishing for stripers And two is the upland inland areas which the locals are thankful that the tourists have not really discovered yet. You haven't seen a sunrise until you have been to Moosehead Lake or Mount Kadadin. Last time you looked a moose in the eye? Ever seen a massive blueberry field with the morning dew from the top of a mountain? If you are interested in a little or a lot of white water Canoeing, you may want to check out some of the inland rivers. Depending on the time of year don't forget the Fair Festival season. The "Common Ground fair" is a fair like you will never see anywhere else.(it's in Unity Maine) Google it.
If you come in the spring, bring plenty of bug dope (repellant). The black flies are wicked. They have USA flags painted on their wings!

New Hampshire is loaded with small campgrounds. Private and state owned. Google, "Storyland". There is a small campground right next door within walking distance to the entrance. Buy a one day pass and you can go into the park after 3:00PM the day before when most people are leaving for the same price. The rides will not any long lines after 3pm. The kids will love this place. Santa's village is a little ways off from there but commutable.

Vermont aint to shabby either. Beautiful lakes and mountains. Nice KOA in Brattleboro.

Normandy Farms in Foxborough Mass is a short drive to intown Boston. Google "Patriots Place". Not your usual Football Stadium.
Sturbridge Village for the history buff. A little drive west of Boston but a nice easy drive.

Be glad to be more specific if you had a particular time of year. We have been to a number of the campgrounds in the area as well. Feel free to ask.

If I were going through New York State, the Finger Lakes area has wineries calore. Not sure if that would be on your schedule with the little guys. You can take a bus trip into the city from the campgrounds, do a nice tour and be back to the campground later that day. Long day but well worth the price. No parking reqiured!

Check out:

Campground Details - Charlestown Breachway, RI - ReserveAmerica

Great place if you like the ocean!

Sites are on the eastern shore of the breachway. It's basically an open lot, they pack them in, side-by-side, no hookups.

The beach is nice, not too crowded. Current is strong right in the breachway, but water is very clean and you can easily wade back into the bay when tide is lower.

At $20/night (for out of state), it's hard to beat! Prefered sites are #58 to #75, right on the breachway. With your paperwork from the office, you can use the dumping station at Burlingame State Park which is nearby just off the main road.

Here are a few pics, the beach ones are before the summer season, that's why no one is there.

It's a little cool in June, but you should check out the Lake George area in New York. There are several campgrounds in the area, Lake George Campground on Route 149 being the nicest'

What they said about Normandy Farms in Foxboro, Ma. Great place to stay and a short drive to Boston, Providence, RI and New Bedford, Ma. For southeastern Mass Visit the Whaling Museum in New Bedford. It is the largest of it's type in the country. Great way to spend a day. You get to climb aboard a half scale model ( the largest in the world ) of a whaling bark that sailed out of New Bedford. ( They built the model, then built the bulding around it!) Scrimshaw, pear point glass and many artifacts and movies (they have a theater ) about whaling. Just down the road is the city of Fall River that has BAttleship Cove. A collection of WWII ships.
BAttleship MAss, a submarine, PT Boat, destroyer and more that you can tour. Both the whaling Museum and battleship cove have websites that can give you more info. I believe it's Whalingmuseum.org and Battleshipcove.com but I'm not 100% positive.

Hi, I'm sure you will enjoy the Trip. If you have plans to visit NYC and like the Ocean Beaches you might be interested in staying at a Campground at Nickerson Beach, Lido Beach NY 11561 (Google it). They have 74 RV sites with full hook up @about $20 per nite for non Nassau residents. As I said this is right on the Atlantic Ocean, South Shore of Long Island. In June there should be no problem with finding a site they seem to have started a Lottery system for reservations but it is fairly empty until July. We live about 3 miles west and pass by all the time.
To access NYC is a breeze. Four miles west is a Long Island Rail Road Station in Long Beach (actually on the same Barrier Island) which goes directly to Mid-town Manhattan NYC at Penn Station. If you are so inclined you could arrange a side trip to a Mets game at Citi Field (LIRR has a stop).
Or you could drive into NYC a 45 min drive (non rush hour) very expensive parking.
Enjoy, feel free to contact me for any help.

Thank You for the responses,
I am still planning this trip.
Does anyone have any input on Liberty RV Park. Is it close enough to New York City to see the city without a telescope? Is it clean? How loud is the weekend music? It is worth staying there? Any other input would be helpful.
If anyone has any other ideas of place to stay and see I am open to suggestions
Thank You
Chris

Park is ok but you have to go through Jersey City(right next to the Holland Tunnel) to get there that can be a challenge I would stay in one of the rv parks near tha catskills since you will have a car There is a KOA in Newburg NY and they also have day tours that time of year. Like others have said Lake George may be a little cool then but it is beautiful. The entire adirondak region is nice Lake Placid, Ausable, etc and you are then close to Montreal from Lake George under 4 hours. But it all depends on what you and the family are interested in seeing and doing
