Hi all, we just returned from Halifax,NS. an a Tattoo on the 7th,the harbor, the Citadel, great eating
Than a side trip to P.E.I. for some "kitchen music Ceilidh" with Cynthia MacLeod an company, sure was a stomping time an some great eating Avonlea, Ann Green Gables an some Raspberry Cordial.
I took some RVers from a GS group we belong to. About every two years we go to the Tattoo, only thing missing this year was a group from the U.S.A. The theme this year was for Veterans that have served in arms. Years past they asked all Vets from all countrys to rise, but no mention of U.S. Vets this year. In time I think that will past an we will have the Marine Band or the "Old Guard" from Arlington National Cemetary back when we settle this war we are in right now.
This trip helped to get my DW's mind off what she has to go thru for the next 6 1/2 weeks. Radiation treatments start this Thursday for breast cancer. The DOCTOR has said he removed all the bad cells but this is to make sure its going to be gone for sure. Lets hope so.
We had some problems with motor home but nothing to hold us back will cover in Newmar Forum. "007"

Hello "007"
First and foremost our thoughts and prayers will be with your wife as she goes through her treatments for breast cancer. As you may have read my "DW" Carol is now and has been fighting breast cancer for about 10 months. She has been through all her treatments and post operative tests and her doctors are telling us at this point that she is doing very well. There are several very brave women in the NorEaster's dealing with and fighting breast cancer at this time and I wish them the very best.
What is a Tattoo? Is there another meaning other than body art?
I'm not sure I would want to attend any event that doesn't recognize and support the brave men and women that are currently serving our country in the military in any capacity.(in wartime or peacetime)

Thank you Ken & Carol for your thoughts an prayers may we return them to you both also an to all others dealing with this problem, problems with MH's are minor compared to this one.
As to what is a Tattoo let me try to explain.
The Tattoo is a Military and civilian extravaganza featuring over 2000 international and Canadian performers.
If you like Bag-Pipes,Military Bands, music, dance ,drama, gymnastics ,comedy ,competitions for 2 1/2 hrs, than its for you. This year acts from Germany,Russia an as far as New Zealand were there, missing Australia,U.S.A. because of war I would guess.
Most Canadians I talk to believe in what we have to do. I had a pair of extra tickets that a couple from Alberta purchased from me that was disappointed we or the Aussies were not there. Its political U.S hasn't been there since Clinton had outs with Canadian PM.
Maybe couple of years could set up trip for NorEaster's if there is interest. "007"

While attending the awesome International Tattoo in Halifax, 2000 km away from home, has been sort of an annual Tradtion in our family . . . a way of kicking off the summer travelling season; this year we have stayed away from not only the International Tattoo, but all of Nova Scotia!
Try to get a campsite in the Halifax area around the July 1st weekend; or on any other weekend throughout the summer, and you are unlikely to find so much as a single available campsite. No big deal though. Until this year, you could always enjoy the benefit of Wal-Mart's most ingratiating and friendly invitation to spend the night in their parking lot. But no more!!
Scotch Nova Scotia, no doubt at odds with the somewhat more generous American Wal-Mart concept of hospitality; they have been motivated invoke amongst the most severe anti-Wal-Mart, anti-RVing laws on the entire continent!
With total disregard for the fact that Halifax area "camgrounds" (cramped tin 'n aluminum ghettos) are not even close to being able to handle summer weekend traffic; and where Wal-Mart might be the only remaining option . . . Nova Scotia law now demands that if you can't find a place to roost for the night in a local campground, then your best stay-outta-jail interests would be best served by getting out of the Province of Nova Scotia before nightfall!! :-(

Stan, I remember reading something about camping in NS. last spring completely forgot about it. I traveled with two other RV's, have taken as many as ten, I didn't make reservations anywhere never know where we are going to park for the night.
First night stayed in Rockwood Park,ST.Johns,NB.second day of travel arrived at Shubie Park,NS. Campground attendent asked if I had made reservations said I hadn't,have made them before an they couldn't find them, she went out of her way to find sites for our three MH's.
I have always taken a grp to the Tattoo every two years, in the past ten, never had a problem in Canada finding space for a group. Next time I will make reserv. at this park because its not that big. They are redoing the sites had plenty of power an new grassed in sites. I like it because its close to Halifax, Peggys Cove etc, etc. Its a pleasure driving thru your country an all the Canadians are very helpful. Good travels, "007"
THANKS Frankie, I'll keep you in mind for the next one. Your kids would love the Tattoo, first year mine have missed it. "007"
