All the mapping software takes us from Vermont down to Delaware to the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to the Outer banks. The time line for this route is 12.5 to 13.5 hours. Does anyone have any better routes?

After that it's not that bad. You'll come in on the Cape at Kitty Hawk come down from there. Stop at one of those stores before you get on the cape to stock up because it's a run to go to the store.

Nancy kept her eyes shut the whole way on the Bridge and Tunnel. It was the frist time I was ever under water in a MH, you will love the experience of driving off the bridge into the hole in the water.

Hi All,

Hey Lynnvt, Jersey Bob & John just for the heck of it I did NJ to Cape Hatteras on Yahoo maps, and they also say over the CBB & T is the best route, I also moved the route to come down I-95 to I- 64 and it is 73 miles longer and another hour drive time longer !! Hope this helps you all some !!

See you all in 6 more Days !!!!

That is my route back and forth to Florida, everyone should do the CBBT at least once, it is a splendid ride, as a matter of fact the whole DelMarVa ride is super. The Norfolk area traffic is nothing, compared to our own NE traffic. Good luck, enjoy,.....BTW If you calculate the extra mileage and your MPG the CBBT will only cost you a few bucks extra...

We are leaving Friday at noon. We will go until we are ready to stop and hopefully find someplace near the route to stop for the night. Thanks everyone for reconfirming what all the mapping software says. It's always best to get the info from someone who has driven it. We have been through/over CBBT a few times. Actually we came back that way after our Myrtle Beach rally. That was right after 9/11 and it was scary to see the boats patrolling the bay. Just wanted to check to make sure there weren't any changes.

Kitopke State Park is a little too far for us since we aren't leaving until noon. Does anybody know anything about Timberland Lake Campground in Jackson, NJ? It looks like it's not too far off our route and about 6 hours from home.

Lynn..I'm sure you thought of this, but in case you didn't..make sure the campgrounds are open. We don't have much open up here yet.
