RV Rental - Vermont to Nova Scotia?

Hello,

My wife and I want to surprise the kids with a week-long RV trip to Nova Scotia and looking for advice on renting an RV. I fully understand why dealerships charge so much but assume there must be alternatives. Do private owners rent and are there internet forums for such a thing?

Paying a fair price and offering full financial security are not an issue. I would just rather put the money in an RV'ers hands and save a bit for college tuition which starts in only 6 short years.

Or, any suggestions on renting from dealers or who in Vermont/Albany, NY is recommended?

Also, any suggestions on visiting the Gaspe would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Well I don't know much about renting rv's but I do know about Gaspésie! Been there a few times and it is great. It's beautiful, peaceful and the people are great. If you love sea food, you're in heaven. There's not much to do but lots to see. As for camping, I always stay at the same place. It's in Bonaventure and called Camping Beaubassin. Great little place by the sea. Now if you going to Gaspésie, you have to visit Percé to admire the Rocher Percé . You will not regret it!

You make no mention of how you are planning on getting there. The ferry is no longer running out of Maine. I know Long View RV on rt 91 just North of Hartford does rentals. Very few if any MH owners rent or loan there RV's to others.

Welcome chugach001 to irv2.
There are many RV Rentals in Vermont and their rates are about the same as when I rented.
A trip around the Gaspe would take a week with some driving up 91 to 55 to 20 to 132. There are some reasonable campgrounds in attraction areas.
Use to take groups to N.S and surrounding areas and if you had the time would be a trip remembered.
Most areas can be driven in a day or less between locations.
Mileage from my Ma. location to P.E.I. is just over 600 miles.

How fondly we remember renting with the kids. That was pre-teenage-college-weddings-etc. Now that we own our own rig we laugh about it.

The last thing they wanted at that time was to be in the back of an RV. "Hey kids, Look, there is Niagra Falls!! See the water spray in the air?" They could have cared less.

Make sure they are age appropriate for the cruise at hand! Enjoy the trip if it happens. You'll be able to look back on it and laugh as we do.
